Are they worth the money and do they work? I have a wife and 2 daughters and always end up with no hot water and I have 2 gas tanks one big and one small.

Why do you want to heat already hot water?

They are awesome. I can take showers for like 3 hours when I'm at my parents house

How long before somebody asks for pics of his wife and daughter showering?

Do the really want to see my 8 year old and 15 year old daughter.

If you want hot water for days yes. If you are looking to save money on your gas bill. No

Me? Heavens no. Did I inquire about pictures?

I would rather have hot water when needed. The money is not the problem. I don't know anyone who has one so I thought I would ask the OT.

The one in Breaking Bad seemed to work well.

I have one and will never go back to a regular one.
Things to note...
When multiple faucets are using hot water, the water pressure will drop. Not a big deal to me and usually only one is running.
Make sure you service them to keep the system clean and free flowing. I have read there are screens that can clog causing issues when you want just slightly warm water. The heater shuts off when it thinks you don't want any hot water.
Make sure when it's installed your installer put the right size orifice at the gas meter. The unit needs a certain amount of gas pressure. So summertime it might be fine...winter still might be good. Real cold and more people are using gas to heat on your grid and it could cause your tankless heater to not come on. Happened to me this morning. There are a lot of tankless ones in my neighborhood I think...and around the time everyone is getting ready taking showers and Turing the heat in the house up caused a drop in overall pressure.
As for the gas bill I can't compare because I built this house with a tankless I can tell you my bill is not that much.

Huh? I'm all gas, including dryer, and mine is $20 a month when heaters aren't running.

No problem. I'll add I have had mine 7years so far. Next house will have two.

At my house it can take a while for the water to heat up; with a tank it's there immediately. Sometimes i have to let the shower run for 5 - 7 minutes before it gets hot. but once its hot like everyone says it hot for however long you want it. I think they do sell tank/tankless combos to take care of this.
Also (and this has never happened to me) but if the electricity goes out there is no hot water.

The time it takes to get hot depends how far away it is. One of my showers is hot almost instantly. The one that takes the longest is the kitchen sink and that's because it's in a island and goes through the slab. Takes a couple min max....worse in winter. If you have to wait 7 min it must be far away. That's why I'm putting 2 in the next house.
Not sure about the power thing but I bet so...no spark. I have a whole home generator so I never had to test that.

We have one at our hunting camp and that thing is awesome. we usually have 5-6 ppl trying to use one shower. Last year we didn't have it and the shower situation was miserable, now plenty of hot water.

We have one in our house. I mean it works just fine...don't notice any difference from having a tank and there's no space taken up. I have hot water whenever I want/need it
