Purchased one in October - LOVE it !!

Accurate - NO recoil - BSA scope on it (not the best scope) however, today it works and does the job out to 300 yards.

I know one thing, the yotes do not like it - they drop like dawgs

How much do you want to spend? Also, do you have any brand loyalty?

no, but I only spent $300.00 On the rifle. I'm looking for the best bang for the buck. $200.00 is about my limit I'm willing to spend

I picked up a Nikon Prostaff at TP when I purchased my rifle. It was on sale at the time and about $30-$40 cheaper than the Redfield I asked the clerk about.

Where are y'all finding 17 wsm bullets? I'm thinking about getting the b mag but I don't want to get it if I can't find bullets. Also, what's the average price on the bullets?

Walmart, of all places. About a month ago. I was at a local store and asked if they had any----NOPE! Guy next to me overheard an said he thought he saw some at Walmart. He wasn't familiar with that caliber, that is what caught his attention. I said, "Thanks buddy", and zooooooomed to my nearest Walmart. There, on the shelf, was 20 boxes of 20 gr and 25 gr. Checked out another Walmart, same thing. Another, same thing. It was like discovering the "Big Rock Candy Mountain". No, I did not scarf them up. Got my fair share. I must be the only person around here that owns a B-mag. Because, there are still boxes on the shelves. I have about 1000 rd. Mostly 25 gr. Have I given my neighbors a "fair chance"?

I'd look at a Mueller scope. I've bought two: a 4.5-14 "Tactical" on my 17 Mach 2 and a 4.5-14 APV on my son's 17 HMR. Be aware, the Tactical version has external adjustment knobs. Mueller has a VERY strong following on a number of the rimfire forums. They're very clear, yet surprisingly inexpensive.

The bmags are flying off the shelves. I found a couple places that had them and was on the fence about getting one but now that I've made up my mind to buy one, I can't find one. I've called every store close to Baton Rouge and nobody has one. Dicks said they had one yesterday morning so I sent my gf to get it, it was gone when she got there.

If anybody sees any 17 wsm ammo around Baton Rouge, please let me know. That stuff is harder to come by than I thought.

Just an update on sending my original unit back to Savage. Sent it off around 1 month ago and Bowies called me Wednesday and said it was back in. Arrived yesterday to pick it up and they had actually sent me a brand new one. I noticed they had one of the new models with the bull barrel on display. With all the reviews (and my experience with my original unit) showing poor accuracy I decided to purchase the bull barrel model as well to do a comparison. Will report back later whenever I get a chance to go run some rounds through them, hopefully tomorrow afternoon.

Bad mofo, if someone was to shoot a gator with one, it may split their skull open at 60 yds, or so I've heard

Yeah, my original unit was erratic on accuracy and it had FTF problems. I plan on heading out this afternoon to run some rounds through them.

Went out this morning and ran about 100 rounds through each. Got both zeroed in first. Then I took both rifles and went through four magazines (8 shots each) back to back (not even really trying to hit the target) just trying to get the barrel hot. I then started more target practice and both held true to their zero. Needless to say I'm happy with both rifles I have now but, that's not to say someone else may not still have problems with one they may purchase.

All of this was shooting both the 20 grain and 25 grain versions of ammo.
