its better than the Texans

I can't support a team with a name that is so obviously pandering to our state pride.

Commanders is a badass name for a football team IMO.

Bud Adams took the Oiler history with him to Tennessee. Houston didn't retain the history like Cleveland did. Thus, Houston will never again have the Oilers.

Is it different in the NBA? The Hornets moved and took their history to New Orleans. And now Charlotte will have the Hornets name back next season.

Houston Commanders' first home game. Coin toss: Commander Jim Lovel. Helmet insignia: something inspired by this...

Or the entire helmet could just look like the moon.

The Oilers was possibly the best name ever for an NFL team. If they brought it back (won't happen) it would be the best thing ever

They can't. No way they get it back from Tennessee, who still wears the uniforms in throwback games.

Last season they had TONS of fans. They had city wide dedicated Texans days. They were winning, all they need to do for fans is win games

Tom Benson gave the nickname back to them.

It would be awesome, but it obviously can't happen. Shame too. The Oilers had one of the most gloriously beautiful uniform combos of any team I have ever seen. Literally nothing I ever saw them wear looked bad.

Now as a result of them leaving we have the Texans, who are bland and uninspiring, and the Titans, who have one of the worst uni's in the league.

The Texans helmet is good, the rest is just ok. Also wish they would ditch the red alts

You should read up on your football history.

The New York Jets of the American Football League were originally named the Titans.

Bud Adams was an original AFL owner. He did not "spawn" the name.

Luv ya blue but alas it will never come back. Those late 70's Oiler teams are some of my best childhood memories. I have never forgiven Bud Adams(RIP) for taking the team and the name away.

Dallas Texans was Lamar Hunt's (founder of the AFL) original team.

They moved to KC after a few years.

Dallas Texans won the 1962 AFL Title and had highest attendance in the AFL...still they couldn't compete with the Cowboys for viewers and had trouble convincing fans that they were on the same level as the Cowboys.

So...same as it ever was

What this guy said.

Thanks for the history lesson bro. Doesn't change the fact Titans is a lame name and it was reincaranated thanks to Adam killing the Oilers name
