This is exactly what makes the Texans name so lame to people in 49 states. Texas is the guy who won't shut up about how special he is.

Sorry you don't like the truth?

During my time in Louisiana, I realized people born and raised there have a ton of state pride. The culture there is awesome. I feel lucky to have been a part of it during my time at the school. That said, I never understood the Texas hate. But I'm glad to know that state pride is a valid reason to be hated...especially when it involves a real life event in a state's history.

Texas guy at a party somewhere outside Texas: The cool thing about Texas is that it used to be its own country.
Inner monologue of Texas guy: Whew. That was close. This Oscar party went almost three minutes without somebody mentioning how awesome Texas is.

To be fair:

People from Texas : Texas :: White people from 25 miles outside New Orleans : New Orleans :: White people from 25 miles outside Chicago : Chicago :: People from Boston : Cock

Ok, we get it. You don't like Texas. All this because of the name "Texans?"

I mean, there ARE Texans in Texas.

New York Mets?
Minnesota Twins?
New York Yankees?
San Francisco 49ers?
Green Bay Packers?
New England Patriots?
Pittsburgh Steelers?
Boston Celtics?

All of these names are pretty much referring to people of a specific area. Are they ok?

Same here. Just off the top of my head I remember Pastorini, Burroughs, Campbell, White Shoes Johnson, Toni Fritsch, Casper, and of course Bum.

Mike Barber, Curly Culp, Carl Mauk and Elvin Betha(sp) come to mind also.

Texans is the worst name in pro spots history.

It's like saying The Indianapolis - Indianans or The Green Bay - Wisconsinites, The Denver - Coloradans.

Have never even cared wha any team calls themselves, but that name is so stupid it actually bothers me.

I remember reading McNair tried to get the oiler name but Bud adams wanted an obscene amount of money for the rights

Now that he's dead I wonder how much it'd cost the Texans to buy it back. Jersey and souvenir sales would go through the roof.

Lot of butthurt from Houston folk in here. From a TENNESSEE Oilers/Titans fan, y'all can

Sorry y'all didn't give Bud what he wanted in Houston. You called his bluff and it cost you the Oilers.

because he was a miserable douchebag. Watch the Houston '93 special on the NFLN and see.

Bud and the franchise you can have, the history should stay where it was created. Its not butthurt to say it is a shame the players from the 70's can not have celebrations honoring their accomplishments where they happened with the fans they played for. Earl Campbell never played in Tenn, why is his jersey retired there and not in Houston where he played? You show your true colors by relishing the fact that great players like that can not be honored the way other past greats can because some vindictive douche moved and took the history with him.

This is pure gold. You know Unitas's number is retired in Indianapolis right? Dickerson and Youngblood retired in St. Louis? Get the frick over yourself. It happens in every sport every time a team moves. Y'all are unbearable. No wonder Bud left y'all.
