My Browning is as low as it can go from factory at 3lbs. I'm going to check for myself because it sure feels heavier than 3. I would like a little lower but not too low. My cousin has his Browning at 2.5.

I honestly don't care a whole lot once it's sighted in. I'll be the first to admit that I slap the trigger when I'm shooting a deer inside of 150 yards. The few times I've shot one further than that, I took my time and never noticed the trigger as much as holding crosshairs.

I used to hunt with a 2 stage mauser trigger if that tells you anything

3.5
3.8
3.4
4.0

I prefer the 3.8 and 4.0

I think under 3.0 is for bench rests and snipers.

I'm about to show some of my ignorance, but how do you determine trigger pull weight?

Big game hunting rifles/handguns 3-4#. Having said that, I need to decrease the trigger pull on my Savage Striker 308 as it's currently more like 5#.
Varmint hunting handguns, 2-2 1/2#, but only if it's safe.
Self defense handguns, whatever the factory setting is.

My .17 and .220 swift are both around 2. The .308 is closer to 3 but it's a Savage accutrigger.

My two after market triggers are around 2.5. That's a little light, but I like a light trigger. A clean trigger at 4-5 pounds is actually pretty frickn sweet on a hunting rifle though.
