There has to be a reason why every Texas booster was so sure Saban was coming to town. I'm skeptical of this, but it's a fascinating read:

Those poosays just cannot. Accept their mediocrity. Maybe if they say it enough it will come true.

Would be awesome if true. It's amazing that that Ft. Worth Star Telegram guy broke that it was a done deal. I wonder who his source was that made him make such a bold statement?

The author of that article needs to scale back his use of hallucinogenic drugs just a tad.

These idiots still refuse to believe that they were just the latest school to be played by Jimmy Sexton.

Since the contract extension wasn't enough maybe next year when the season starts they'll get the hint.

They were convinced that they could get any coach in the country. Now that it's become obvious that they can't, they are trying to save face.

About a month ago I heard a Texas reporter talking about Saban and he said "If Texas wants someone they get him". So maybe they just did not want him.

What an amazingly well-sourced piece. It's incredible how many big time figures the author got to go on the record.

I don't doubt Sabans agent talked to Texas and was leveraging for a raise. Saban may have even been interested in going, especially if the part about the Alabama booster mouthing off to him is true. This little tidbit from a recruit makes me feel Saban had made his mind up by last Tuesday.

quote:

"Coach Cristobal came here on Monday. My parents asked him if Coach Saban was going to leave. He wanted to be honest with us. He said he wasn't sure. He then let me know on Tuesday that Coach Saban was staying at Alabama.

After all Saban said in his interview on Saturday, I just don't see him going. Despite his past.
