December 17, 2013, 11:04 p.m. by Syra Sylla @ LADYHOOOP
Alexis Ajinça ??will find the NBA. The French interior just signed with the New Orleans Pelicans.
A-390-edf-France-dunk-ajincaC'est the big news of the evening. Alexis Ajinça ??just found a spot in the big league. The pivot Strasbourg should include the rotation of the New Orleans Pelicans. The présidet the SIG announced at a press conference tonight.
Surprise of the European Championship, Alexis Ajinca has grown enormously since his return to France with Strasbourg. This year, he even had the opportunity to rub shoulders with top European hubs in Euroleague.
Hoping that all his efforts bear fruit on the other side of the Atlantic.

URGENT BASKET Alexis Ajinça ??leaving Strasbourg and joined the New Orleans Pelicans in NBA
Alexis Ajinça ??will meet Peter the Pelican in person. And that is all offers Euroleague or elsewhere in the NBA.

So AD is supposed to be back in a few games, and Stiemsma has to be back sooner or later, why sign Anjica now? Just acquiring assets, or is Stiemsma not going to be in a Pelicans uniform when he comes back? He is the most likely trade filler contract.

Anjica had some legendary pre-draft workouts on the level of Darko and Yi...of course, they were alone on the court with no one guarding them, but amazing nonetheless.

He has found his role as a player - gone (mostly) are the three-point shots, replaced with a mid-range, pick-and-roll based game (admittedly with more emphasis on the roll than the pick) interspersed with hook shots from down low, with shot creation and shot making skills, a much improved offensive talent. He was averaging 17.1 points in only 24.9 minutes per game of Euroleague play - in the toughest league outside of the NBA, Ajinca has shone brightly, emerging as one of the best centers on the continent, and particularly so offensively.

Ajinca would have played more minutes were he not so foul prone still. Certainly, Ajinca still has more to do on the defensive end. Despite his height and wingspan making him a quality shot blocker and unignorable defensive presence, the mistakes and inconsistent decision making remain, and the development has been more offensive than defensive. Nevertheless Ajinca's rebounding rates improve year on year, whilst his shot blocking remains, and the offensive production continually increases. He is now that which he was not quite before - an NBA calibre big man. And aged only 25, further improvements are no doubt forthcoming.

The center was averaging 17 points per game for Strasbourg in Euroleague play this season. 'I've improved my game inside,' Ajinca said after joining the Pelicans. 'Right now I'm more efficient and can score around the basket, get defensive stops and get rebounds.'
...He's still a young big. He's been through some trials in the NBA, but he's really had some success overseas,' Pelicans Coach Monty Williams said. 'For whatever reason, it didn't work as well as he would've like it to (during his first NBA stint), but he's got some length and some tools that we feel can help us in the future. We like his progression in the past year. (Pelicans GM) Dell (Demps) and his staff have been talking about him for a while.'
...'He's a really good kid. He has some length and some athleticism that we don't have," Williams said. "Once he figures out what we do, we feel like he's going to help our team. We'll put him in our player development program, and he may get thrown into the fire (Saturday) night, you never know.'
Sorry no link, on my phone and pulled this Jim Eichenhofer article from the Pelicans app.
