A few well connected Texas folks went all in. Done deal. Vatican money. They just assumed they could get whomever they wanted. This tarnish them at all?

Yes they did but I also think they're looking to reel in a blue marlin on a push button Zebco. Saban was never going to get involved in that shite show.

I think this is a fair assessment. Mack stood his ground and made them eat their words. Had he given in I think it would have been realistically a 50-50 proposal as to whether CNS took the job or stayed at Bama.

Not really.

The people working this probably had a legitimate shot if they knew how to keep a secret. Stupidity, not arrogance was their biggest problem.

They're always like this. That's what we've been saying. That's why we left.

It wasn't so much that they swung for the fences that did them in but the fact that they panicked and didn't know how to handle Mack.

At midseason, it seemed to be a done deal that Mack would "voluntarily resign" but he actually turned his season somewhat around.

Yeah, he went from "fired" to "future AD" in 48 hours.

No. Texas is just all over the place right now. Way too many people trying to run their program.

The arrogance came from their fans and media who never looked at the thing objectively.

I think Saban always intended to stay at Alabama but was going to listen to what Texas had to offer. That being said, no big time coach is going to touch that cess pool. Their boosters can't keep quiet. I still believe Alabama landed Saban in 2007 because our boosters weren't blabbing to anyone that would listen.

I was told that there was no offer since Saban told Sexton to tell them he would not entertain one. I think this was a power play by a few powerful Texas people to get rid of Brown and the AD. They manuf the Saban interest to try and force them out.

Their arrogance definitely hurt them. The way this all went down is a huge black eye for them and won't soon be forgotten.

The condition under which the sips labor is the result of 100 years of a stacked deck that was undone in less than 2 years.

Don't know about that but, I do know that whatever money is not at the Vatican is at UT.

Waaaay too arrogant. I was picking up what they were putting down until the Vatican comment, then I realized they were more arrogant than Bama fans and we had the possibility of a great melt if Mack stayed. I was totally unaware of how much UT fans hate Mack until this season.

They shouldn't have made that crack about the Vatican. The Pope obviously sent in that Da Vinci Code squad to scuttle the deal. Nicky gets his soul back as part of the agreement. If you see him able to smile now, you'll know.

Still not sure if they can help Notre Dame though.
