All these hypes on Jennings was great, but do you still remember 08 Chick Bowl?

Where JJ was still a true freshman and lit the defense on fire in the GA Tech Game, and people were starting to compare him to Jamarcus Russell with all the sky high expectations...and we all knew how the story of JJ ended up with.

I am not trying to compare Anthony Jennings to JJ (cause in my deep heart, I know Jennings is way better) and I am excited about his future being our QB as much as anyone in here. But ever since the whole JJ drama, I cannot help but tend to take a precautionary approach on raising my expectation of a freshman dual-threat QB before I get to watch him play extensively and how he reacts under pressure (which Jennings kinda already proved). It's all likely that Jennings will come out ready to show the world that he is our future QB and life will be great. But what if he doesn't? What if he drops the ball big time in this bowl game? How many of you would freak out and start calling for the backups and how many of you would keep faith in him? What will be your thoughts on him then?

Only difference is Jennings is faster than JJ and has a better arm. JJ was a running QB that just was not that fast(regardless of what people think).

I was thinking the exact same thing earlier today. Jennings is promising but still unproven. Hope he has a great career as a Tiger.

You people are legitimately fricking crazy. Jefferson completed something like 16 passes for 142 yards in that game. He made a couple of athletic plays and we ran the ball at will on them.

Here are his stats for that game: 10 rushes for 25 yards, 16/25 for 142 yards passing. OK, but certainly not Manziel-like numbers.

Speaking of JJ, I could have sworn that I saw him on campus a couple of days ago.

It was wither him or his fricking twin walking out of the Subway in Foster Hall.

Watching that video I forgot that team had that much talent on it. If only we had a good DC that year

This is like four sentences in one. We all hope Jennings measures up to your careful eye.

That I hope he improves before next season.

Vesper, I feel you bro but no worries on this one. Two totally different players, JJ was a runner who couldn't pass while AJ is a passer that can run. JJ played well in the first half but did absolutely zilch in the second. We should have known from that that he was overrated. But I digress. In any case, I truthfully have no worries whatsoever about the abilities and talents of AJ. LSU is in good hands my friend.

JJ and Lee did go 38-12. One huge difference is we have an OC/QB coach that is NFL calibre. My confidence is more in Cameron than any particular QB.

I don't know how this legend started, but JJ wasn't great against Georgia Tech. He was 16/25 for 142 yards and 1 td. Only had 25 yards rushing. I understood why people had high hopes for JJ after a pretty good SO year. But I never understood why people got on the JJ hype train after the 08 season. He didn't do anything that made you think he was going to be that good.

I remember that nifty fake punt to Chad Jones we ran when the game was already in-hand.

People remember that game too fondly. JJ was 16 of 25 for 142 yds. What got people excited was the zero INT's.

The expectations were off the chart during the offseason based on a mediocre game vs a weak defense.

People expected too much from Mett his first year too. Exaggerated expectations for individual players are a worse problem than being cautiously optimistic. Give the kid a chance to grow before putting too much on his shoulders. First game next year he throws a couple INT's, people will turn on him
