The winner of the SEC Championship Game will automatically participate in the Bowl Championship Series comprised of the Sugar, Rose, Orange and Fiesta Bowls.

The Capital One will make its pick following the BCS selections.

The Cotton Bowl has the first preference of teams from the Western Division and the Outback Bowl has first preference of teams from the Eastern Division. The Cotton or Outback Bowl can select teams outside of its divisional preference, but must not select them before the opposite bowl selects from its divisional preference.

Pretty sure there is no rule about a bowl taking a team based on seeding. The only rule seems to be a preference for the Cotton taking a West team and the Outback takes an East team. Other than that, bowls select who they want.

S. Carolina will most likely have 3 losses since they will probably lose to Clemson. The worst case scenario, bowl wise, for LSU has Auburn beating Alabama, TAMU beating Missou, and then SC beating Auburn in the SEC Champ game. That puts Auburn, Alabama, SC, and Missou ahead of LSU and no SEC team in the BCS champ game. If Bama beats Auburn and Missouri beats TAMU, and Clemson beats SC, then Bama wins SEC CG, then only Bama, Auburn, and Missouri are ahead of LSU from an attractiveness standpoint. LSU lost out in the pecking order last year because TAMU was the hot team and we were boring. This year, we have the offense to make us a more interesting matchup for a Big 12 opponent. Bama in BCS CG, Missou in Sugar, Auburn in Cap One, SC in Outback, LSU in Cotton.

I love how every year there's 500 predictions and questions about 'which bowl game' before the season ever even finishes, and most of them turn out to be flat wrong.

Why can't people just wait and see how things play out? There's still lots more games to be played. It all just seems like wasted time at this point.

Order of finish does not exactly determine what bowl the teams go to.

The real fact is it doesn't matter what seed you are in the SEC. The cotton bowl will look at who will travel and fill the stadium and who they had in the game last year. Then they will choose based on that.

Another thing, UGA has 4 losses, they aren't finishing ahead of us in the SEC.

Lastly, certain bowls only take certain divisions based on their history. The outback always takes an SEC East team and the cotton usually takes a SEC west team.

Depending on how Mizzou does against aTm in their last game, LSU has a very good shot to play Texas or Baylor in the Cotton.


In short, history says it doesn't matter a lick what your "seeding" is in the SEC. The bowls look at match up attractiveness, because they want butts in the seats and eyes on the tv.

If you need proof, go back to 2005 and watch how a 2-loss LSU team who lost in the SECCG dropped to the Chick-fil-a Bowl.

Aubbie 10-2 (bama loss)
Mizzou 10-2 or 11-1 or 11-2 (possible loss to txam or bama in sec cg)
S.c. 10-2 or 10-3 (loss to bama sec cg if mizz loses to txam)
Lsu 9-3
Tx am 9-3 or 8-4 (we should be ahead regardless, and txam played cotton last season)
Ga 8-4
Ole piss 8-4

Aubbie to sugar
Mizzou or s.c to capital one
Mizzou or s.c. to outback bowl
Lsu to cotton
Tx am or Ole piss to chicken bowl
Ga to gator bowl
And, then whoever gets shafted between txam or ole piss gets the shite bowl that you arseholes are predicting we goto.

It's not just standings or rankings, it's the order in which the bowls get to pick the teams. The is less rigidity than OP assumes.
