quote:I'm not gonna go post stuff from Blazer boards where there were plenty people calling for him to be fired last year. Instead, this is from after the first game of this season...
Lol guessing the"whole fan base" consists of 4 fans?
quote:That article, after 1 game, isn't necessary for a coach thst hadn't had his job questioned before.
Strong reaction to the Blazers' loss in Phoenix Wednesday was inevitable. "Roller Coaster" not only describes individual seasons but Blazer fandom in general. Nobody rides it better, nobody stays on longer than does the Blazer fan.
However I couldn't help but notice that the first bump on the ride caused a significant swell of blame to fall upon the head of Head Coach Terry Stotts. We printed nothing like that in the game reviews but the comment sections blossomed with calls for everything from a different scheme to the coach's head on a platter.
A discouraging opener to a (presumably) tanking team won't be greeted with flowers and flute ballads by any fan base. But in light of the already burgeoning Stotts-centric response to things that go wrong with the team, LINK
Blazersedge! I am a member there as well. If you read that article (and comments) you'll see that they do not blame the coach. In Dave's first sentence to answering the question is "Portland does not have a coaching problem." Dave was skeptical of Portland's talent to start the season and clearly said it would be the talent that fail Stotts, not his coaching ability. I don't want to highjack this thread so I'll end it there.
I think even with the crappy start you guys had you'll be in the 8th seed mix. Maybe 7th seed depending on how close 7 and 8 are. I wasn't a fan of Reke and didn't want him in Portland (he said he wanted to be starting and refused to pkay SF at the time) but off the bench and with a healthy EG, Ryan, Jrue and Davis, he should get great looks at the basket and lanes to it.

Half game out of 8th, boys. Real exciting.

Chances at the 7-8 seed aren't too shabby
At the moment, Xavier Henry and Robin Lopez have the best +/- of all players in the Port/LA game. Robin lopez is having a big game tonight. I would love to have him at the starting C spot right about now.

OP needs to update. Only 1 game separating the 7 and 12 seed.

they're really clicking... Aldridge and lillard are at an all star level while Lopez is serviceable at C and wes matthews is playing well at SG.
they've also upgraded their bench: Mo williams is a solid vet and thomas robinson is a high energy guy. Dorrell Wright and Joel freeland are solid.
Pels are 1 win out of 7th seed

Lopez at C has been huge. With Hickson, other teams would put their best big man on Aldridge, but with RoLo you can't do that unless you have 2 7 footers. Batum is doing a great job at staying involved
Even when he's not shooting great he still plays tough D and has good court vision. He used just sit in the corner for 3s. And Stotts is an awesome coach. He's installed Indy's defensive schemes and is a great play caller. Hes drawn up a few beautiful full court plays when the time calls. Last, our bench is really solid.
Our weakness would be fast guards. Our defense is still new and doesn't have options like Indy or Chi have in theirs. Plus, 2 of our losses came from the Suns on the road. We've won 2 of the last 18 there iirc. That team is full of blazer killers too.

Hollinger's Playoff Odds
The odds change everyday but today he has us projected to go 41-41. Good for 12th in the West. Would give us homecourt in the east
