TX resident buying a rifle in La from a FFL dealer as a gift for a child.

If the gun is in your name probably not a problem at all, but it is not legal for child under the age of 18 to own a rifle or 21 for a pistol. (I might be confused about having a gun in the vehicle)

Just buy it for him, and transfer it when he is 18. It's a dumb law that everyone has broken.
