4.5 rye
1 simple
4 dash angostura
Flamed lemon or orange peel
Old fashioneds should never include the following: cherries, soda water, jack daniels

I usually make one about once a week regardless of season.
Pretty standard recipe except that I use Jack Daniels rather than traditional bourbon and I over pour the JD.
-Teaspoon of sugar at bottom of low ball glass
-three dashes of bitter and swirl the glass to dissolve sugar
-add peel of orange and a single cherry
-add ice
- three parts whiskey
- one part soda water
-stir

I muddle and measurements are adjusted by eye so I will be shunned in this thread.

had my first old fashioned 2 nights ago at radio bar and it was pretty good. i have no basis for comparison though. apparently they make them pretty well over there so i gave it a shot. definitely need a beer to sip on though while im drinking it.
