Lived in Shreveport for two years, and the Mabry House had the best food we ate there. Hands down. The decor leaves a little to be desired (it's in an old house, which is awesome, but it looks like it was decorated by your grandmother). The food is spectacular though.
If you're pushing for buffet, I would assume the Horseshoe would have all that stuff.

Chef's table here is the best dining experience that I have ever had anywhere. Wouldn't do with clients or for work but for family or friends it is awesome!

You've been a member for 4 years, and you decided to take the plunge and make your first post here?
Haven't been to the Cub in a couple of years to eat, but the food was not great the last time I was there. I feel like they couldn't handle our large party (about 12 IIRC) all coming in at once. The filet and quail was pretty creaking good the time before that, though.
I may also suggest Ristorante Guisseppe. I've never eaten there, but I've heard a lot of good things, especially recently. It didn't start out too well, but I think they changed the menu and have done well since then.

I wondered if anyone would notice that. Lol. I made an account a while back and forgot about it. All it took was a post about Shreveport food to get me to shed my occasional lurker status, I suppose.

The entire capacity of the entire restaurant is only about 20, so 12 at once is a tall order for one guy, doing everything, in a galley kitchen.

Will need Gary to chime in on the cub. I thought I heard the quality had declined...I could be wrong
There was a decline after Will left, but it's back now. I went right when the new cook started and it was terrible, but either they changed or he got with the program. I went there last week and it was awesome. Although I was 3 martinis deep.
The only reason I didn't suggest The Cub to the OP was because I assumed he wanted something highfalutin for a client dinner. Some people are turned off by the hole-in-the-wall-ness of The Cub.

Looks like Horseshoe has a seafood buffet on Fridays. Unfortunately I can't give you a report on it because I've never been.

last time I went to Guisseppe was many years ago .. and I didn't care for it at all back then. my uncle swears by it though. it's one of the most polarizing Shreveport restaurants.
