Go for it, there's one dragon that you fight for HOURS, I remember buying a bunch of potions and setting my characters on autopilot, and going to bed, woke up and they were still fighting. Hacking away at his feet. According to the WIKI it had 50 million HP.

It did a lot if experimental things and was unlike other FFs in a lot of areas (battle mechanics (free roam overworked but still turn based), storytelling, characters, etc.)

I think it makes for an interesting argument though. If you don't think Vaan is the main protagonist, then who do you think the main protagonists of IX, X and XIII are? I think most would say Zidane, Tidus and Lightning, but you could say Garnet, Yuna and Vanille. I just go with who you control most of the time

But seriously, there is so much 16-bit RPG goodness. That is a goldmine for anyone that's never played any if the titles. FFVI, Chrono, Mario RPG, Earthbound alone...that's a good month or two of all-time gaming.

I really enjoy 16-bit RPGs. I have several I've acquired over the past year that I never got to play as a kid. Lufia: Rise of the Sinistrals, The 7th Saga, Terranigma, Brain Lord , Illusion of Gaia, Drakkhen, Lagoon.
I really wish they had a remake of the first Lufia and the Fortress of Doom.

Been wanting to play BoF all the way through for years, but would always start a file then have to give it back or the emulator would get deleted.

BoF3 was a long arse game, I would put Led Zep's ZOSO and Physical Graffiti on repeat while playing, went along really well.

Legend of Legaia is easy to get on eBay. Its still fairly cheap. Valkyrie Profile on the other hand....
