From what I've been told around the office is that the store is going to try and open next week, likely around the 8th. Leblancs has to step their game up with the Rouses/AWG invasion over the next year or two.

Rousses/Leblancs is basically the same store, when you visit the Rousses in Houma it looks like those hole in wall Leblanc stores like one in Plattenville. The nice Rousses in Canal is a lot like the redone Leblanc's on Airline and this new Leblanc's will be like Rousses in New Orleans probably.

Yeah, payless used to be just a slightly above average grocery, but now, the one in Gonzales in the old Winn-Dixie is now almost like an imitation Rouses. Not quite as good as a nice Rouses (think the one on Tchop @ Napoleon), but still a really great grocery.

Yea I do all my shopping at Payless as well. The Gonzales store upgrade is nice. I like it and happy another is opening on airline.

Ralphs better step up their game.

Ralph's did there expansion a few years ago and if they don't do something quick they are done for. That store is too small now and with Payless boxing them in they will be on the defensive big time.

Leblanc's is my usual stop, but I looped into Ralphs the other night. They are expanding again. I also saw in the BR business report they are expanding with a new, ground-up bigger/better Rouses style new store near Covington. I'm looking forward to checking out the new Leblanc's and having a Trader Joe's. Good grocery times in the metro.

Same concept, different grocery providers. Leblancs uses Associated Grocers, Rouses uses Associated Wholesale Grocers. Both have the same customer base, and AWG just opened up their warehouse in Pearl River with every intention of putting AG out of business.

I could walk there, although I don't think I will with Bishop Woods between us. But they are building a chick-fil-a right there too

I read in the business report where this was happening but I still haven't figured out exactly where. Is it going to be out in the parking lot of Leblanc's or across Duplessis?

I was thinking that side building was going to be some sort if strip mall. Figured it would be a corner anchor or something.

That is the scheduled Chamber of Commerce "ribbon cutting", so it will for sure be open then, I would be surprised if they did not actually open earlier, but that is my speculation only

Yeah they are. I just found out last weekend that we're losing our #1 babysitter to them.

Any more insight into the new location? I saw on their FB they are saying 11/12 to open. Also, probably completely hearsay, but someone posted that they heard Izzo's was going into the strip mall.

Personally, it is on the short list of things I need closer to home. It seems like it would be a great location for them as well. Curious if anyone else has heard that, or if it's just one yahoo and now I'm hear spreading rumors.
