Don't bench your best running back to 'teach him a lesson about fumbling'. When you have a great player and you are in a heated battle, you don't bench the only running back you have on your team who can break a game open for you. Especially if he has never displayed a problem with fumbling and especially if he recovered his own fumble. All RB's will fumble the ball occasionally. LSU lost by 3 points. Does Jeremy Hill make a 3 point difference in a game, especially a game that your game plan appears to be to pound your opponent into submission? Miles is one of the top college football coaches in the country, but he fumbled the ball on this one. Hillard played great but he is not any where near the level of RB that Hill is. He is not going to break off a long run for you. He is not the game changer that Hill is. It is not a game that we should have just thrown away so casually.

I don't fully get Les's policy on this either. Seems like there's RB's and then everyone else.

I agree. Plus, if Mett doesn't go full retard on us and throw into double coverage 3 times we win this game comfortably....just sayin

Miles' backs all know going in that if they drop the ball, they'll sit a spell. That's the rule. It doesn't change for anyone, anytime. I have no problem with that.

So tell me what points you think were left on the board with Hill on the bench. I'm looking at the play-by-play recap and don't see where his absence on the field had anything to do with the loss. LSU only punted once in the 2nd Half. Here's that drive's plays:

1st and 10, LSU 25 - pass 13 yds to Landry
1st and 10, LSU 38 - pass 12 yds to Beckham
1st and 10, Midfield - pass 0 yds to Hill
2nd and 10, Midfield - pass incomplete to Boone
3rd and 10, Midfield - pass incomplete to Beckham
4th and 10, Midfield - punt

Ole Miss then fumbles and resultant drive ends in FG, but looks like this:

1st and 10, UM 13 - run 5 yds by Hill
2nd and 5, UM 8 - run 1 yd by Hill
3rd and 4, UM 7 - Mett sacked for 16 yd loss
4th and 20, UM 23 - Field Goal

Next drive ends in game tying TD. We know the rest (and had nothing to do with Hill). So what points did we lose out on?

If you think you can win the game with an extra 20 seconds then why let 1st,2nd,3rd, and 4th quarters expire without showing any sense of urgency? Slowdown the clock until you catch up and go ahead.
