I believe the university was cooperative. Former players certainly weren't, but you can't hold that against the university IMO. But the NCAA certainly would have had they not botched this entire thing lol.

You're also not taking into account just HOW BADLY the ncaa looked in this case. I'm fairly certain they're just trying to end it with as little egg on their face as possible at this point
It's eerily similar to the Saints/Goodell situation where Goodell just gave up and gave no penalties just so it could go away.

I guess the ncaa hasn't hit those levels of megalomania just yet.

At least they didn't hold a barbecue or they'd have been in DEEP trouble.

Not having to play those shitty bowl games the last two years probably actually saved Miami money.

That picture of Shalala made my day.

I'm happy for Golden that he stuck through it and can enjoy some success without this over his head.

Miami was not cooperative. They even threatened to sue the NCAA. They got lucky because the investigators were using shiesty tactics. I'm sure they use these same tactics on other programs as well but for some reason everybody felt sorry for Miami and wanted the NCAA to go easy.

It's funny because I remember Miami signing like 30+ kids 2 years ago or something so they could stock up on young guys with the "impending scholarship reductions."

This isn't that bad

Lol... go read an article or better yet the NCAA report on the investigation tactics... the NCAA used several unethical investigation techniques. Threats to former players that all information would be taken as true until proven innocent.. using a federal court case to try to subpoena witnesses in the NCAA investigation.. collaborating information with the same witness who gave it.. Improper benefits paid to the key witness.. the leaking of false or misleading information to the press.. Not to mention the only witness the NCAA had is a convicted ponzi scheme fraudster..
Plus the NCAA could only actually verify a fraction of the improper benefits. The attorney for Shapiro is also facing investigation/ discipline for her actions by the Florida bar.

Miami was cooperative through out the investigation per the NCAA. Former players were not.
"Shiesty" tactics would have led to inadmissible evidence in a court of law. Which is why the NCAA dropped much of its evidence including evidence gained by lying to the university and former players.
Not saying you were incorrect just uninformed and you are down playing the wrongdoing of the NCAA and the novice and unethical behavior of the investigators.

Yeah, it actually is. More ammunition for SC's lawsuit against the NCAA, and if they fail to settle McNair's suit against them, it could very well bankrupt the organization. They basically railroaded that guy, with very little due diligence.

Unleash the lawyers, bitches.

I love all the hate for the NCAA. Without them there would be about 5 good teams paying off everyone .

Who the frack wants the Yankees domination in college football? And it would be much worse if the majority of players were steered towards a few teams.

USC cheated and the institution deserved EVERYTHING it received.

Penn State allowed a predator to continue preying on kids. Coach turned a blind eye, Athletic Department turned a blind eye and the Chancellor turned a blind eye. Hell they deserved the DEATH PENALTY and the powers that be will probably end up in prison although the few emails tying them to a conspiracy might not be enough to convict.

If you don't want the hammer don't cover up cheating, pedophilia and academic fraud. Quit saying everyone does it. They don't. They may push the boundaries and when they over step those boundaries they should get SMACKED.
