This.LSU wouldn't be where it is today without Saban. And if you think where LSU is today is a bad thing, I feel sorry for you.

I don't think anyone was saying we shouldn't appreciate what he did here. Certainly that wasn't the point of my posts. I hate people who constantly give Miles shite for every frustration about our team because they feel inferior due to what's happening with the Saban/Bama combo.

You forgot "rescued LSU from irrelevance and built the foundation for current success."

So two SEC titles and a NC in 5 years after the combined jerk off of the Archer, Hallman and Dinardo years is now meaningless?

Combined record: 48-16, 3-2 in Bowls, several humiliating losses and some close escapes against inferior teams. Keep that in perspective when you want to bash Miles and claim the program is in decline.

Nick Saban- 4 National Titles

Les Miles- 1 National Title

Try again?? Any LSU fan that says they would rather Miles than Saban needs their head examined.

So you're saying he didn't have to rebuild at Bama? My point is that him being there is what makes him look better. If he were back here, my opinion is he'd likely be doing no better than Miles is.

IMO you're retarded. Bama is what we would be, end of story.

there's really no arguing that. If Saban was still at Miami we like Les a lot more.

I am serious. Why not? If USC wouldn't have lost, it would have been OU vs USC. It still almost ended up that way.

Saban is driven to win and with the wins, he then gets rewarded.
Miles is driven to get pay raises and had rumors that he talked to Arkansas last year and within 24 hours got $500,000 a year increase in November. We go to the Chick-fil-a bowl and lose to Clemson in a manner that is becoming rather common with him.

Maybe if he had won the NC in January 2012 he would have gotten a pay raise immediately to $5.8. Instead he sucked an egg in the redo against gumps that he was "honored" to have LSU play again.

Again, then explain to me why we weren't dominating with Saban the way he is at Bama? Here's the short of it.

Bama gets the benefit of doubt from pollsters/media.
Bama has a storied tradition that recruits like.
Bama has great resources and infrastructure.
Saban is a great recruiter and good Xs and Os guy who pulls all of that together into a dominant team.

Put Saban back at LSU and we stay a normal 10-2 type team with the occasional 11-1 perhaps 12-0 season. Put Miles at Bama and they continue with what they have right now. Put Shula back at Bama and they go back to 7-5 normally with the occasional 9-3.

Then why has he been able to pretty much continue the same level of success that Saban had here?

Sub in Urban Meyer, Jimbo Fisher, Pete Carroll, and any other great recruiter that also is decent with the Xs and Os and you'd get the same results.

Just imagine what it would be like for miles to be at Alabama, and lose to ole piss, lsu, and a&m in a year. think they would be passing out raises and bonuses and contract extensions ? if so, they would all be pink. its probably a good thing for all involved that it has worked out the way it is.

Do you know what the Miles haters hate the most. It's one sentence.

LSU has never been more successful than when Les Miles has been the coach.
They also hate this one.
Since Les Miles was hired at LSU , no other coach or program has beaten more ranked teams.

These are facts. Do you Miles haters know what facts are?

If those facts make you happy over 3 NCs and about to make it 4 then you can live happily ever after in your land of delusion. Apparently this is the new norm for many LSU fans and this is EXACTLY what separates LSU from Bama; we accept this and they want to win championships.

I am in no way a Miles hater and have supported him throughout his tenure here. Will continue to support him but have come to realize he is a very good coach while Saban is a great coach. Those facts don't lie and trump your facts.

On a level playing field with a salary cap, Saban looked like an idiot in the NFL. He has endless amounts of resources in Bama.
He was not playing for national titles at Mich St. He has the resources to get top notch talent. We all seen him lose to less talented teams before. Some if y'all seem to forget a Les Miles coached team beat Saban with a supposedly less talented LSU team. Explain that? I guess you can't.

What you guys are refusing to see is that those facts back up the opinion that Saban isn't necessarily a better coach than Miles (hence their head to head record is so close), he's just in a much better situation. Tell me what other program would have been given that rematch after the 2011 season? I really believe that you could insert Miles at Bama and see the same level of success that Saban is having there. It's what happens when you put a good coach at one of the powerhouse schools. Look at what Urban Meyer is doing at OSU.

Exactly. And on that note, I'm out fellas. Got a very early wakeup call ahead of me. Been a good debate and I appreciate everyone's comments even if they disagree with me.

Talent level is a lot different at LSU brah. That is why the Big Ten has failed as of late to win a NC. And Saban wasn't the first nor will be the last college coach to fail in the NFL. Just a totally different game ther in many ways.
