Did Chavis begin to trust his CBs in the 2nd half?

I may be wrong here. or didn't notice any blitzing in the 1st half. So again, correct me if I'm wrong. I was unable to watch the 1st half because of terrible Houston traffic. I was able to listen to the Miss. St. radio call.
But White and Robinson played major roles in the 2nd half, no? In the UGA game, what did LSU blitz? Once? Twice? Playing a with absolute zero pressure?
There were a few more blitzes in the Miss St. game but was that while these 2 freshmen were in the game? Has the lack of blitzing been more about not trusting the secondary? If he can leave those 2 on islands with DBs, the middle can blitz a tad bit more. Something that seems to be missing from Chavis' playcalling from a regular Joe Fan's point of view.
Also, has Moustache been banned since for his 2 week, Hitler-style tirades trying to convince everyone that LSU is in for 6 straight losing seasons from here on out?
Again, pick this part as you will. I am just curious and am 100% positive that I am not 100% correct with the patterns in the defense we saw in the 2nd half.

Robinson and white should be starting from here on out.
Oh, and keep loston on the bench

This! There's no point in him being out there anymore. We are no worse with the younger players and it gives them valuable experience for the future.

Corey Thompson played better than Losten! Not as good in run support, but better in coverage and angles!

I believe so. I saw a few more blitzes get dialed up in the second half. It may have been a collection of White and Robinson along with Martin looking better and Thompson not being awful.
No one has the stones to get rid of his arse and his #decline bullshite.

I dont know about trust, but we did blitz more in 2nd half. It also helped that their QB was not very accurate (if we're giving an honest assessment of the game).
Cant argue with facts though, 3 points only given up in 2nd half. Thats awesome.

Yeah, I saw threads on here saying it wasn't the defense, but the QB's regressing. What kind of bullshite is that? People want to drill home their point so bad, that they will go through so much to be right about what they see that they will take away everything from the defense and just say the QB's were terrible.
Yeah, were they terrible in the 1st half? Did they forget how to play football in the locker room?
Maybe the reason they weren't accurate because they had a LB or a DB up their arse and they have to get the ball out in a hurry. QB pressure causes that. Not the QB's just "regressing" in the 2nd half.

he played the WR instead of the ball. he had good coverage and the DB was about to go out of bounds but the db changed direction at the last second and run right under the pass, thompson couldn't make that move in time and was a little out of position.

When we begin games on defense I'm totally comfortable with Rashard Robinson and Tre'Davious White manning up on our opponents best WRs. IMO these two guys have the talent to win more one on one battles than they lose. Will they get beat from time to time? Yes. However they will force the QB to make very good to perfect throws and will also force the opposing WRs to run very good to perfect routes.
Now if there is a trend that begins to develop in the 1st and 2nd quarters when facing a very talented receiver (a la Amari Cooper)the Chief will have to make game time adjustments and get these guys some help especially in particular down and distance situations. But again, I'm totally comfortable with these guys working on the outside on "an island" mono a mono.

Looks like it was either give up the points or get called for assault. WR got behind him and he got there too late.

well u know the drill...you'd rather get called for assault than give up a td.

quote:Did you watch the game? Im not bashing our defense, Im giving them credit for a much improved second half. HOWEVER, they left the QB Prescott in for a long time and he missed several open receivers which killed two of their first few 2nd half drives. The other QB was much more accurate in the first half than he was in the 2nd. Im not talking about when they were hurried.

loston would have been at the 5 yard line though

to be fair, loston would have had that kid's head on a stick way before the ball landed.

There weren't many times in the 2nd half where those guys had all the time in the world like they did in the 1st half.

Loston should not be on the bench. I see the argument, but just stop.
Collins should be the only pure starter at corner, whereas Mills, Robinson, and White needs to be heavily looked at. It is starting to get ridiculous. I didn't see Mills jumping around like a baby about safety help against Miss St so I am happy that was at least addressed.
Barrow needs to stop being put in the position of covering slot wide receivers. After the 5th time he got beat, it was starting to get irritating.
Loved the "What if" scenario they threw in our face during the game. "What if"....Michael Brockers, Sam Montgomery, Mingo, Kevin Minter, Tyrann, and Eric Reid did not leave early/etc and all were still wearing purple and gold. Ridiculous.

quote:Agreed, and it was a welcomed sight. I would have to rewatch the game but the bad passes Im talking about seem to be before we starting blitzing. It was early in the 3rd quarter. Simply bad passes.

Again though, Im not trying to take credit away from the defense. I hope and pray that 2nd half was a turning point for them.
