He feels the same way anyone else would about EG.

ow do you figure? You still have a base of Davis, McClemore and Rivers (plus the pick next summer). You have Gordon and Anderson as trade bait and your only major contracts on the books. You keep adding rotational players to your core and let them develop together. That group, while not as front loaded with talent, is much deeper and balanced. Depending on who they would have added with the money, that team wins about 40 games. I don't expect the group we have now to win much more than that and it is somewhat locked in (not as much flexibility roster wise)..
Yea, we could have become the Sacramento kings... man, i'm so disappointed.

Everything depends on how he looks playing where he does now. If he sucks this year, he probably won't get much of a contract. I don't think he would have broke the bank here and would have given us a bit of a hometown discount. They probably could have locked him down on a multi year at about 6m per, if they negotiated early. He would have still been a good value.
I think Jarret Jack is a good barometer for Vasquez' value and he got 4/$25. Not great but still manageable. The problem with Vasquez is he's basically the PG version of Okafor. He's good enough to put up respectable numbers, but he will get crushed by the elites at his position which means you have no hope in the playoffs with him as your starter, especially considering how stacked the PG position is vs. the Center position.

Vasquez is a good player. I like him.
But he would be exposed on offense as much as defense in the playoffs. He is too slow to get by bigger defenders and cant handle ball pressure. Smart teams would eat him up in a series.
Last year Matt Moore said something like "He will go from leading the league in assists to being a bench player and no one will be surprised"

Gordon is the poster child for what is wrong with the NBA. Team signs a player and is absolutely stuck when they tank or refuse to play.
Pro sports need to go the way of the rest of the world. Don't do your job, you don't get paid.

I've been saying this about Gordon and the NBA (and MLB) for years. The guaranteed contracts in the NBA and MLB are ridiculous. Once a player gets signed they have no motivation to work harder and they know that no matter what, they're still getting paid every dime of their contract. At least in the NFL they set up their contracts to where only x-amount of it is guaranteed (usually around 15-35%) and the rest has to be earned through incentives, games played, etc.. That protects them from entitled people like Eric Gordon who have poor character and a poor work ethic.
I guarantee you if only x-amount of Gordon's contract was guaranteed then most of his tick tack, sissy "injury" excuses would go away.

Excellent points too - think it is slowly taking care of itself as the public is getting less supportive of ever increasing and absurd tickets prices

What baseless drivel. On a percentage basis, attendance was up last season from the one before. The cap rose this season, which means that revenues are projected to rise, moreso when you account for the new owner-player split.
The business is doing just fine.

Business is doing fine these days. On the other hand, it's true that the guaranteed contracts are an abomination

Guaranteed contracts are a choice. The Pelicans have many a player with nonguaranteed contracts, others with incentives.
That is a product if the market, not NBA policy.

The overwelming majority of NBA players have guaranteed contracts and especially the ones who actually play more than 10 minutes in an entire season.
Even Ryan Bowen back in the day had over $900,000 guaranteed for a season to sit on the bench. In the NFL the same caliber of Ryan Bowen-like talent would be lucky to be on a practice squad somewhere making $50,000.

Thanks for agreeing, not realizing it, and missing the point entirely.
