Our offense played lights out. Any time your running game gets shut down and your offense continues to produce, you've got something really, really special.

Our defense was very unimpressive, but I still believe that they have upside and can improve. If there's a team that can, we can. Our coaching staff is absolutely top notch.

Yesterday I was hard on the refs unnecessarily. They called a pretty even game, but in the heat of the moment, seeing the late PIs was tough. I still disagree with them calling the game loose, but they did call it fair. I can't complain on that.

Overall, we fought like hell, looked solid and are a threat to any team we play. If our team can develop the killer instinct it's had in past years on defense, we'll be great. I understand what Chavis was going for yesterday; he knows it's a young D and it doesn't have the raw talent and playmaking ability it's had in the past, so he's played soft and tried to keep everything in front of them. I think he'll decide to go on the attack more as the season goes on. I hope he does.

Either way, I have very few complaints. The team did everything it could, with everyone doing the best they could on playcalling, execution and planning. It's tough, but we'll get past it and have a great year.

something pretty rare on this board...a shockingly reasonable and well thought out post...

The two stupidest things I've seen the rantards bitch about in this defeat are #1 OBJ "lost" the game for us & #2 the refs cost us the game. OBJ fumbled a punt & it resulted in a td for UGA. Murray was intercepted & that led to a TD for us so the games 2 turnovers are a wash. The D not stopping UGA all 2nd half had more to do with the loss than OBJ's fumble. And sure there were some no calls by the refs, especially pass interference calls but the game was called the same for both teams, LSU got away with some very blatant PI's in the game that weren't called.
LSU put up 40+ points on a top ten team on the road & lost by 3 because our D couldn't make a stop when we got the lead with less than 4 minutes to go. End of story

Bottom line we ain't going no where this year. Wasting a great O this year because Defense was taken for granted. Bet Chavis wishes he had Spring and Fall camp back.

game went about how i thought it would.

taking young defense on the road to face a top 10 team and senior qb had me concerned.

we fought like hell though and had a chance to win it in the end.

i think we will get better. really a shame this offense couldn't have been paired with our defense last year.

You are being way too kind. The execution on defense was just atrocious, not sure what game you were watching.

I was concerned about the D coming into the game, but didn't imagine they would play that bad. On the other hand I was equally surprised by how great the offense played.

It was a great game that could have gone either way, I'd make the trip again in a heart beat!

I wouldn't consider a running game getting shutdown a really really special something or an offense playing lights out

Good post. I'm not reading any of the other ones in this thread. LSU was a 3 point UD on the road and lost by 3.
They are who we thought they were.
