yeah he can def do better than that. a USL, Tech, Houston, or Southern Miss type gig. maybe South Alabama or UAB. I always thought that's where he'd start off as a HC before he went to one of the big boys.

Knowing he has received national attention for years, I say he is underrated as a coach. Frank is extremely detailed, organized, knowledgeable, and is a future star HC IMO. I've always hoped he could take over for les one day honestly.

Frank Wilson is extremely underrated for his contributions to the program. If Les is the CEO, then Frank is the COO. In my opinion, he will be LSU's head coach one day. And we will be lucky to have him, as we are now.

I like FW a lot too, it remains to be seen if he has the qualities required to be a coordinator much less a HC. ....I don't see anyone but a struggling mid-major offering him a HC job. And I don't think he would leave for that .

yeah, Grambling. Frank wants absolutely no parts of that (not that they could get him anyway).

The real risk is him being offered an OC position at one of the large OOS programs about to hire a new coach, especially if they get an HC who doesn't need a ton of help on offense and really just wants a stellar recruiter.

I'd say Louisville is an outside threat to offer him as a HC if someone poaches Strong, but that's a bit of a long shot.

Personally I'm more worried about Cam getting an offer he can't refuse, with all that he's done in a year. Mett looks like a different guy and so does the whole offense. Pay him what he wants.

But can he recruit? If Cam can't recruit, then he can't win...like Jerry Baldwin said,"it ain't about x's and o's it's about jims and joes".

Doesn't matter if you are a current head coach or an assistant if you are on to great recruits like Frank is then you make these recruits think he could go elsewhere. Why else could this be coming up all of a sudden? Yes he can be a head coach but it's also a coincidence that its done now.

We have other people who recruit, but he did recruit b. Harris and hid reputation for handling qb's and offensive play calling will get the recruits to Lsu . Look at the 2015-2017 prospects who have put us in they're top 3 or committed already. After we beat Bama this year they will all want to come.

Leave Frank alone! Dude is money in New Orleans and is a solid position coach. Pay him.

Cam's deal is backload (since he is still getting paid by the Ravens) the majority of his contract is in year 3

Running Back coaches with no previous head coaching or OC experience are doomed to failure as Head Coaches. Who would hire FW as a head coach? (Maybe a S.W.A.C. school) He's never even been an Offensive Coordinator.

Anybody remember a RB coach by the name of Larry Porter? How'd that hire turn out for Memphis?

Exactly what I was thinking.

The type of schools willing to take a chance on a coach with no HC or Coor. experience can not affort to pay more than $600,000 a year.

No way would Louisville take a flyer on a guy who's never even been a coordinator at this point. UL is now in the mix for annual BCS type bowls and is a much more attractive gig moving to the ACC.

If he wants to move up the ladder he's going to have to move on, otherwise he's going to be pigeonholed like Trooper Taylor at Auburn as just another ace recruiter that's not perceived as management material. Outside of recruiting, it's not like there's been a lot to celebrate as exceptional about the offensive side of the ball at LSU for years

I wouldn't know him had he been standing next to me just now when I grabbed a cup of coffee. But had some random fan seen me in my lsu hat and asked me "how is it that lsu can recruit the way it does with a "goofball" like les miles as a head coach?", I'da said first off, miles has you fooled if you think he's a bumbling idiot, and secondly, i'da said man, we gotta recruiting / rb's coach named frank Wilson that prepares this buffet line of star power every February, and he's one more fabulous cook.

We need to keep this guy. Whatever we pay him, it's not enough.

A lot of these so called great recruiters have left LSU and not done so well elsewhere.....just saying LSU offers a recruit a great chance to play at the next level and a good education. Players love Miles as well.
