Anyway, LOL at the ref just letting the dude on the ball take his time as they have a little conversation. The llay had been blown dead

A lot of people were saying that he just simply set the ball on the ground with no kneel down

Isn't he technically down when the ball touches the ground while in his hands anyway?

He shouldn't have set the ball down. It created the confusion in the first place. Still, a total screw job.

His knee definitely touched

QB and several players claim that the whistle was blown immediately but just on video alone you can tell his knee touched.

I learned something new today. I always thought the ball was the same as a knee/elbow.

It wouldn't surprise me if the ref (s) had money on this game. Not only did they let the ASU defenders sit on the ball for many precious seconds, they didn't even bother reviewing anything. The field goal attempt would have been a glorified extra point, too. If this happened farther from the endzone, it wouldn't be such a big deal.

No, because you can use your hand for balance and not be down. The ball is an extension of your hand.

That's what I figured after your original answer. It makes sense. Thanks.

I don't fault the QB at all...he ran to a spot...took a knee...and put the ball right there so the ref could spot it quickly and then they could line up and spike it. It all ran amuck when the ASU defenders jumped on the ball (which I do NOT blame them for either...even if a whistle blew, instinct tells you to jump on it). At that point, the refs have to gain control, and they didn't.

How so? Needing a blatant robbery AT HOME is not the sign of a better team.
