No, 20 for me. I pulled out my first gun, a single shot 410 for little wick. I bought AA from Academy.

I'm tired of converting live doves to ground meat with a 12 gauge.

In my young days I used to shoot at every dove that got close enough for me to tell that it was a dove, but now I find myself shooting wayyyyyyyy less and missing wayyyyyyy less

Is it really worth buying AA if you don't reload?

Lets just say a man had $1000 to spend on a double shotgun. What would you suggest?

ETA: 12ga. Not for me. I'm done buying 12 gauges

I would suggest an old american gun in good condition. Names like Fox, LC Smith should be found in that price range with some looking. This will problalby need to be done online.

I would look Doube Gun Shop Classifieds

I didn't think those would even be in the conversation for a grand

I should have been more specific for this particular person though. An o/u that will be shot alot for $1000. It'll probably have to eat some 3" mag steel shot every now and then.

Not those guns then. Light game guns and 3" mag steel should not be in the same sentence. He will loose every filling in his mouth...

He's a pretty big fella

Just saying that it probably shouldn't be any fine old gun. Some flavor of pretty new o\u that can handle a little beating every now and then. More concerned about the gun than the man holding it.

If he want to shoot 3" magnums he needs to be looking for an O/U that weighs ~8lbs+, many of those old game guns were 7 lbs or less. I really think he needs more than one gun, though there are some guns out there that fit the bill. Going to have to do some research, not something I know off hand...

Cabela's had a line of them on the used gun rack. 12 ga O/U, about $5-600. Had about 15. Dont recall the name but shouldered a few. Seemed decent.

Well lets simplify this.

What do you think is the most well built brand new O/U shotgun in the $1000 range?

I saw a guy with a couple German wire haired pointers in cabelas. When they got to the display case by the credit card section one of them locked up and started pointing at the wood duck in the display case.
