Looking at it even closer I see the need even more for a bet board.

Week 1 Bet thread Reached 100 pages. That's 2000 POSTS.

This weeks is already at 25 pages and its only Tuesday morning.

I like to ask about certain games and they just get lost in the mix of the giant thread. Having a board would let us discuss each individual game. Let us have larger convos on each game. Right now everyone tries to keep it short and sweet so we don't overload the thread. This seems like a must do board. I have been apart of the bet thread for 3 years now. It has only gotten bigger and bigger.

Also with NFL coming up I can assure you this new board would get massive amounts of hits.

Please all great and powerful Admins make it happen!

Why? Nothing at all illegal about talking about gambling for entertainment purposes.

No doubt, but the admins will have to be on constant lookout for assholes trying to abuse the "entertainment" purposes of the board similar to that of the Ticket Exchange. If I was Chicken, you have to tell me what is the payoff for me to have a board that needs constant monitoring. It would be more hassle for them then anything.

In fact, there are many us based message boards that exist soley talking about sports betting, though most of them suck.

Don't bet much so I wouldn't look at any boards. Why do they suck? Honestly, don't know and just curious?

It would be no different than the money board. Theoretically insider information and someone pumping and dumping a penny stock could occur, each of which carry a lot more legal issues than talking about sports betting.

You think some of the posters on these boards are vicious, it's taken to a whole new level on some of the betting websites. You could have a guy winning 60-70% of this games (which is unreal), and the second the guy picks one wrong people pile on the hate. From the bet threads I've seen on this board, none of that occurs. It seems like most folks here who participate are for the most part friendly, and you don't see the bickering you do in other places.

I dont understand why this needs to be monitored??

All that needs to be said in the rules of the thread is that it is not allowed to bet any money with other posters in the thread. It is just for discussion.

Im not arguing with you I just dont understand what really needs to be monitored hardcore.

It will bring a lot of traffic and ad revenue to the site.

As Chicken's attorney I have strongly advised him against opening a so called "bet board" due to potential legal issues that could arise.

Thank you for your interest and we apologize that we're not able to accommodate such a request at this time.

FWIW, the degenerates usually stay in the designed thread for them. It's nice when they come into the game thread and show passion because they actually have a reason to pull for a team outside of their favorite.

Feds are seizing gambling sites left and right. You don't monitor it and a bookie sets up shop, it could mean bad things for TD.com.

Which is exactly the kind of thing that would bring authorities scrutiny. Let's say for shits and giggles, a bookie did set up shop and the board wasn't being monitored. TD would have two problems 1) The board is being used to facilitate federal violations via online gambling 2) They received revenue from adds based on the gambling boards high traffic. This would put TD in the position of defending their actions. Just not sure if it's worth that. Admins work hard as it is, IMO. Why even take the risk? Seizure of websites is becoming increasingly easy. Google Bodog.com and see how they were shutdown. Interesting stuff. Could you imagine TD.com shutdown...WTF would we all do?

no bookie is gonna take bets on here. Hey if you lose paypal me. guy loses and doesnt pay.

The people on the board would not allow it. Like I said make a rule that no betting besides BAN bets will be allowed. violators will be banned. Pretty simple

Agreed, and that would be waaaaay to obvious. Any person so brazen and dumb to take a bet on a public message board from anonymous folks deserves not only bannage, but to be drawn and quartered.

The sites that are being shut down are ones that actually allow and facilitate gambling, not ones simply discussing it.

Chicken owes me an admin position. I gladly offer up my hard work and dedication to the new gambling board.

And my poker expertise.

Not to mention it wouldn't take long for the Admins to find a thread that needed to be whacked. shite I put up a fantasy league thread on the Ole Miss Board and in 2 hours Chicken shut that thing down. Haha

I think finding someone acting as a bookie on the site would be MUCH easier to find.

They probably learned their lesson from creating the Fantasy Board. It's pretty dead except for football season, and even then, it isn't highly trafficked. And yet 35 million people play fantasy football each year.

Betting is pretty similar. Football heavy.

Last year we had some great basketball betting threads as well. While the majority of the traffic may be during football, I think if there was a betting board more folks would hang around into basketball season.

Could it possibly be tied in with the fantasy sports board. I could see those two things coexisting well together. Plus you could call it something like the Fantasy Sports and Predictions board or just the Sports Predictions board so it doesn't even sound like a gambling board. Both activities are really just that, predicting certain aspects of games.
