Anyone ever get snubbed on a "Geaux Tigers"?

I've seen a trend the last few years when I say to someone, in passing, "Geaux Tigers."
They could be wearing a shirt or a hat and I'll just say to them casually and they'll either just say "yea" nonchalantly or kind of look astonished I would say that to them.
My fiance just laughs every time it happens and says the situation was awkward. I think it's more bandwagon fans because I don't have that problem in, or around, Baton Rouge (I live in Houston, btw).

Why would you say this in the BR area? I'll do it on vacation because it is a good way to meet people.

I live in houston, happened to me a few months ago. Guy wearing a brigh purple lsu shirt. just looked at me and then gave a a weak hi.

I wouldn't say it in Louisiana, but here in Atlanta it is cool.
I've had people pull up beside me and roll down the window and say Geaux Tigers and I do the same.

Was working our exhibit booth at a Symposium at the N.O. Hilton yesterday and Wednesday and LSU Petroleum Engineering alss had a booth.
I walked up and gave a hearty 'Geaux Tigers' and they all responded in kind instantaneously.
Of course they were all students or recent alumni.

I'm in Atlanta, and I get snubbed sometimes. I don't quite understand why - I'm not loud or obnoxious.
Was in San Francisco a couple months ago and got snubbed. When someone gives me a "Geaux Tigers", I give it right back to them. I agree with another comment - I think the snubbers are just bandwagon fans.

I only do it when I'm outside Louisiana, but I don't think I've been snubbed before.
When someone says anything to me randomly while I'm walking around it catches me off guard, so I might not respond appropriately right away. I figure that's what is happening here.

I am sometimes the snubber (in Houston) not because I am a bandwagon fan, but I forget I have tiger gear on and don't expect people to talk to me in public.

Yes, a few times. I think it's more just me though. It's been in odd places, no where in South.

I only do it in places where you wouldn't expect to see LSU fans. Like on my honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, or like right now when I'm in NYC.

In Dallas I don't usually get a GEAUX Tigers.
A lot of people will say something along the lines of LSUUUUU or L.S.U. L.S.U.
Those always throw me off a lot more.
