only if they don't have a case

well, I'm not going to spend the afternoon going tit for tat on this, I stand by what I posted, and I know it goes on, I've seen it happen, and I've seen it recently, not talking strength of case, here, I'm talking connections with people that have the ability to make things like DUI's disappear

We talking some small town in BFE?

Bc you're not gonna get a DUI fixed anywhere MADD has a presence.

like I would out these guys? or remove the possibility of me ever being able to draw upon these resources? I hope I never need to call in one of those markers, but if this kid were me, in Lafayette Parish, the wheels would already be spinning, and although I may get a few heavy duty arse chewings, I wouldn't be sweating it quite so much

ETA: in fact I would be safe in Iberia, St. Martin, and EBR Parishes

not true, they're not quite as powerful as everyone thinks they are, plus they keep shooting themselves in the foot every other year or so, when one of their bigwigs gets popped

So how do they get the bots that scan the booking website for mugshots to delete their copy? What about the arresting officer, the booking officer, the tow-truck driver, your cellmates, and every other person arrested/booked at that time? How do you wipe away all of that as if it never happened?

I'd like to know.

I've seen a 1.7 before. The machines aren't always accurate, though.

I was commenting on the venue where this incident occurred. I live in the DFW metroplex, which is where MADD is hq'ed. I expect things would be considerably tougher up here.

When I got mine I blew a .164 and I did not get a lawyer. Pled guilty under 894

32 hrs community service
1 year supervised probation ($50 a month)
Breathalyzer for 6 months ($80 a month)
Insurance never found out and did not go up

Barry Sallinger is the best DUI attorney in Lafayette, fwiw.

My dad is a well known criminal defense attorney around Acadiana and one of the first names that pops up when you ask him about good lawyers in the area is Sallinger.

never happened to me personally, so I don't know all of the specifics, I do know of a guy that was arrested/charged by a state trooper, in St. Martin Parish, I was in a bar in NI with one of the players having a beer when he got the call, the arrested guy was out of jail in less than 2 hours, charges ultimately dropped(refused test,) didn't lose dl, and never made the paper, BTW: trooper let him call a friend to get his vehicle, no towing that night
ETA: fast forward a few months, was heading to BR with the same atty, he was driving, got stopped for speeding on the basin, the trooper, after a little small talk, the atty, jokingly says "look I'm late for a meeting,if you need to write me up, would you please, and btw, I'm going to be gone for a few days, if you want to just give it to " " go ahead, or I'll do it when I get back" trooper kind of chuckled and sent us on our way

I'm late to this party and don't feel like reading 9 pages. Are people advising you to handle this thing on your own?

Quick update: Just spoke to the assistant DA and they said I will not qualify for a pre-trail diversion being that the cut off is .16.

Told me I could go on and start court approved driving classes, community service, and AA meetings before trial since it will be 4-5 months. Looks like I'll be doing the 894. Still plan on consulting a lawyer.
