Reading the SECrant about top SECwest coaches has gotten me fired up. People saying that we have seriously underachieved bothers me because in some ways it's true and in others it is not.

Why it is False: LSU is 24-4 over the last two years. Not many teams can say that. LSU has also beaten more top 10 teams over the last two years. Bama, Oregon, USCe, and UGA are great examples.

Why it is True: LSU's offense in the championship called plays that a pee wee team coach won't call. Constantly trying to run through a break wall and never throwing the ball deep. The offensive debacle in the Chicken Bowl. Add to that the poor calls in the 2012 Bama game. There wasn't any reason for us to lose that game. (Our poor offensive play last year might have lead to us getting the best OC that we could ever get.)

Fact: There are 12 teams in the SEC that wish they could "underachieve" at Miles' level.

Fact: There are about 120 teams in the country that wish they could "underachieve" at Miles' level.

I think before this past season, LSU had the best winning percentage of ANY team in the last 5 years...........so no.

Also, we've had one of the top 5 toughest schedules since 2007/2008 season. I'm proud of our team

Nah. Everything fine. Losing chances at back to back titles and givin it away to Bama is normal. Also, playin at a level to lose to a Clemson is normal too.

LSU has underachieved. However the bar was so high and the result was still solid so I would not characterize the performance as "seriously" in terms of underachievement.

No. Lsu has overachieved imo, went 4 years without a competent qb.

Dont let the secr get to you, those are usually other teams fans who have had nowhere near the success that LSU has enjoyed for the last decade. They will all troll until the day LSU beats them this year.

If anyone thinks Miles is on par with Saban and we are equal talent wise with BAMA, then yes the program has underachieved because they are finding ways to win BCS titles and we are not.

The record says no. Considering LSU achieved the amount of success it did with basically a 3rd and 4th string QB for 4 years I would say they overachieved.

I believe that with a decent/competent QB then we would have won the championship in 2011 and 2010.

We would have won at least 2 more games in 2008 despite our defense and we would have won one more game in 2009.

I have no opinion on the underachieving question since there are so many known and unknown variables at play here that when making that particular determination none of us are qualified to render a truly informed opinion.

I would inject that record alone is not the end all indicator you might believe it to be.

24-4 can be used both ways depending on whether or not LSU put more talent on the field in all 28 of those games or if the they were overmatched talent wise in any number of them.

No...I think the overachieved/underachieved labels are relative to expectations conjured up in the minds of fans....nothing more. If fans and media were more realistic about how difficult it is to have a decent season, there would be a lot less of that talk.

Somehow losing to teams with equal to better talent is underachieving.

in the last three years we have had 6 loses, 3 were against the eventual national champions, 2 more were against BCS bowl bound teams. We have lost 1 game in 3 years to a team that didn't play in a BCS bowl. and we lost that game by 1 point.

LSU has been one of the winningnest programs in the country under Miles, while also playing one of the most difficult schedules in the nation year in year out. If you think that's underachieving, then I really don't know what to tell you. LSU is one of the top 5 most successful programs in the nation under Miles.

Also, let's look at the talent levels. In 2011, LSU has ONE preseason All-SEC 1st team player. One. After an undefeated season, the media re-adjusted their picks and placed four Tigers on the All-SEC 1st team or, looked at another way, the SAME NUMBER OF PLAYERS THAT BAMA HAD ON THE ALL-AMERICA TEAM. If any team is just "winning on talent", it is Bama. LSU has been immensely talented, but Bama has been on another level from everybody.

Also, look at how whiffing on a QB has tanked even the best programs. The fact LSU has been able to compete for titles while missing on the QB position has been nothing short of amazing. No one else in the country has been able to have the same kind of success with LSU's level of QB play.

Miles has been at LSU for eight years. He's only had one season that could be construed as "bad", and he still won 8 games.

Let me see, LSU showed up for a National Championship game, totally unprepared. Then last year, they dominated the same team and our head coach got caught up it the moment when the female reporter asked him if we would see the Hat today. And the Hat showed up and blew the win trying to be cute. Les is great at some things. Not so good at others. The other coaches see the talent and the facilities and say, he hasn't utilized his advantage. Not counting the time management and other brain farts!

I don't think we have lived up to expectations, but that happens.

The teams have not underachieved. The players work their butts off. I've never seen a defense play that well for that long as I saw in the Peach Bowl. It's the offensive coaches underachieving. Chavis has done his job.
