McCarthy:
74-38 .660 winning percentage
1 Super Bowl win
5 Playoff Appearances
2 NFC Championship game appearances

Payton:
62-35 .646 winning percentage
1 Super Bowl win
4 Playoff appearances
2 NFC championship game appearances

(Missing 1 season due to suspension we all know about)

Both coaches have marquee QB's which helps tremendously which would you prefer going further? Both started their HC careers same year.

(I know Louisiana based board I won't get biased responses right?)

McCarthy made Aaron Brooks look like a great QB and made Jim Haslett into COtY.

Good question!

I'm going to give the edge to Payton for two reasons....
1: even God himself couldn't make the Saints a Super Bowl winning team up until SP.
2: Based on his absence last year alone, the difference in ha ing him and not having him is night and day.

Payton did help turn Quincy Carter into a decent QB as well. With that said, this one is still too close to call. Both are great offensive minds & really good head coaches.

Payton was cheating by paying players to cripple and maim, and was also spying on opposing locker rooms.

So McCarthy is the answer.

I think that it's about as even as it gets. I tend to think that Payton's offense is more innovative, but that's probably just the homer in me. There might not be any basis in reality for that. I'm going to call it a tie.

Payton's accomplishments are more impressive. Unlike GB, New Orleans had absolutely no culture of success and winning.

I can't say definitively that one is better or worse than the other. Like you said they've both had stud QBs for their entire tenure. Saints were probably in worse shape when Payton took over, but the Packers weren't contenders when McCarthy got there either.

Clearly it's McCarthy.

I say McCarthy by a hair. He's handicapped by one of the worst GMs in the entire league. Obviously having Rodgers is great, but the rest of the team is average at best.
