And?

Just making the statement that this "game changing" discovery may not be a game changer ( in the near future) if they

#1 Cant get it extracted ( no rigs, few workers, very strict and arsh geo business climate)

&

#2 Dont have a way to handle the associated gas or pipeline their oil out, even if they can get it past completion stages. ( assuming they even figure out the best way to complete this resource play)

ok. Go ahead.

International Pavillion at NAPE Conference .

People think that you can just poke a hole in the ground, flow thousands of barrels of oil, and go sell it at a flea market.
Takes a hell of alot of
work to create the infrastructure in order to make exploiting a resource a viable thing.

There were issues and still are issues with infrastrucure in s. texas.

OK. Well then we are on the same page. I was just stating one of the many obstacles in the way of actually having this a viable game changing thing for that country

ARe you saying the Haynesville, bakken, and eagle ford were not game changers? The Haynesville single handedly bombed nat gas prices.

Along with lack of storage and federal leasing laws that basically force companies to produce on their land or lose it.

Barrels of oil equivalent != barrels of oil.

Either I completely misread TH03's post, or he edited it somehow without leaving a trace

re: The Biggest Oil Discovery In 50 years - Australian game changer edition
lol and what is the haynesville now? Chesapeake is out, petrohawk/BHP is all but completely out, and everyone has already moved to west texas drilling for oil, not gas. it's not really a game changer when the big boys leave town after 2-3 years.

the biggest game changer that came from that was increased horizontal drilling. hell, a lot of people in NWLA are starting to drill laterals into the Pettit zone instead of the haynesville. cheaper to drill half the depth and get crude than it is to drill 12-14k feet for gas.

maybe it's a game changer in the sense that it produced a lot of natural gas that is as useless as tits on a bull presently. it'll be more important when we have more uses for it.

re: The Biggest Oil Discovery In 50 years - Australian game changer edition
I'm saying every new discovery is "the game changer of all game changers" when it hits the media. it's one thing that the oil/gas is there, it's a completely different thing to get leases/permits, drill, extract, refine, etc.

in a perfect world, yea, it would be monumental, but in the real world you have to factor in politics on a global scale, weather/natural disasters, pipeline availability, refinery space, etc. it's not just "oh there's so much oil here, game over, we win!!"

re: The Biggest Oil Discovery In 50 years - Australian game changer edition
Australia would know a thing or two about that too with their offshore gas projects. Oh look we found a bunch of gas, now we just need Shell and a bunch of national oil companies to put up ~$40 billion and build the biggest piece of floating equipment ever known to mankind and we should be able to start getting SOME of it out...in about 2017. What's that you say, Woodside? $45B was a bit more than you were looking to float for 6 years? Shucks.
