If you pursue a suspicious individual (no matter how legal it is) you may be putting yourself at risk, kinda like what happened here.
What you are saying is just ridiculous. The only leg you may have to stand on is that GZ had a gun with him, but that's a different argument since he had a right to do it.

I follow people I don't recognize all the time when they wonder around my neighborhood (especially after my car was broken into), and I've never been punched in the nose.

There is nothing - NOTHING - untoward, strange, or even very risky about doing that in you own neighborhood.

The only risk would come if you run into the wrong stranger I guess. Which is kind of my point.

I know, but Zimmerman got out of his truck.

Well you keep that behavior up then.

So, if some stranger is walking near my house, I'm not allowed to go outside, stroll around, walk my dog, or whatever... unless its in a separate direction and away of everybody else?

Can't you see the absurdity of your position?

Why? Are texts what caused Zimmerman to assume that TM had no right to walk through that neighborhood without being confronted?

The only thing "confirmed" is OP being racist.

I know but TM was walking around late at night in black clothes with a hood over his head near houses that had recently been burglarized many times.

Neighborhood Watch.

They are not detectives.

Z was watching what TM did and where he went.

If you spotted someone that was suspicious, you could contact proper authorities and not follow them, seeing as how you are neighborhood watch and not an authority figure yourself.

This is why there will be no civil case and probably why the government will stay away as well.

I said you could.

Nowhere did I say you were not allowed. if you decide to follow a suspicious person on your own and find yourself in a situation where you are fighting for your life instead of waiting for police to show up, who are trained to handle the situation. I got no sympathy for you.

I've got issues with Zimmerman and been blasted for them before, but don't think he's a criminal. Not bright, used poor judgement etc...but didn't break the law.

Got no sympathy as in you would put him in jail?

This is where you are letting your emotions get in the way of the law.

The same could be said of TM. If you are walking around a neighborhood at night with a hoodie on and attack some man and get killed. I have no sympathy for you.

re: I would like to read the texts of TM.

I didn't say he broke the law either, and I am not calling him a criminal, I don't think it was smart for Zimmerman to follow him at all. It was extremely irresponsible. However since there is nothing illegal about it, people want to zip past Zimmermans irresponsible behaivor and go straight to Martin's irresponsible behavior that cost him his life.

Martin should have never assaulted Zimmerman, no one is arguing that.

No matter how legal it is, you don't get assaulted, when you don't follow what you perceive to be a suspicious person. You are neighborhood watch, you see a suspicious person, now contact the people who are trained to deal with suspicious people. I don't think that is a job for neighborhood watch.

Yeah. It would be fun to read a lot of texts and facts about thousands of rich, white youths in this country who own guns and did drugs, but who didn't deserve to be profiled and shot, either.

I wasn't sure whether or not to start my own thread but my intern at work is a sophomore at UF but went to Dr. Michael Krop High School, the same school that Trayvon was suspended from. He was a senior when this all went down and said Trayvon was known as one of the schools drug dealers. He was caught by his biology teacher and suspended for drugs. That's why he was in Orlando or wherever. He said TM was definitely a thug.

The texts are irrelevant. So is the infamous gangsta wannabe picture.

I took pictures in college where I was flipping off the camera or making gang signs with my hands. I've posted plenty of things on message boards that could be used to make me look bad.

Certainly doesn't mean I am, or was, a tPOS.
