Nat Geo show. Pretty badass. New episode coming on now and I highly recommend it.

It's a 100% different war down there in Helmand. Personally speaking I'm glad I deployed to RC-E and fought in the fight I did.

Could you explain for those not too familiar with the specifics of the region and war?

RC-W and RC-S pretty flat and vast expanses of desert. RC-E is very lush in the river basins and extremely mountainous. You can fly all day in the Rockies and it is nothing compared to how formidable and rugged the mountains are here. A good depiction of RC-E is the show Restrepo. That takes place in the Korengal Valley which is an offshoot of the Pech Valley which is an offshoot of the Kunar Valley. All of the aforementioned valleys currently are in my AO so I fly up and down those valleys and over that mountainous terrain daily. Basically from my FOB you go directly east for 80 miles on HWY 7 and you are in Peshawar the #1 bad guy city in Pakistan. Continue just slightly farther east and you hit the second worst city of Islamabad. Insurgents were overrunning places like COP Bostick when Americans were there these Afghans have almost zero hope of holding the Kunar or any of the other valleys in northern RC-E. The border is extremely porous. Most of the real fighting happens in RC-E. Extremely kinetic.

Are you at FOB Blessing? I was at Blessing/COP Kunar with the 1st combat brigade/101st a few years ago.

Yes that's what I remember. I was in Helmand with 1/3. Also a ton of canals that were a pain to drive over and alongside.

you should watch this show, then Eyewitness War right after it
Eyewitness War is only raw footage from headcams, and its fricking intense

I already set a reminder in my phone for both of them, bro.

I personally am more a fan of Eyewitness War but I am guessing BA will pick up in later episodes.
Inside Combat Rescue was a badass show as well.

Yes it was...this stuff is incredible. I love the headcam viewpoints, too.

Blessing is closed now along with 99% of the Kunar. The Pech is completely closed. About 2 months after I arrived is when the retrograde started to happen. I'm at Fenty.

SFAATs still regularly go to Blessing and whatnot which I believe is now termed Nagalam. Whenever ANA take over the FOBs they are changing the names to some BS or another.
