This only holds true if we don't ship out Gordon, which I think has been in the plans since day one. I think Demps has a plan to use Gordon, get rid of his high salary and sign either a good 3 and 5 or a great 3 or 5.
Call me crazy, but I think that's why we gave up Lopez and Vasquez and didn't think twice about it.

My quick look says the team will be over the cap to start next offseason if they stand pat on the roster after these pending moves go through but can get down to about $7m under if they wanted to by not picking up expiring players like Smith, Aminu.
This could change a good bit depending on Holiday's, Evans' incentives, roster changes, etc. Just making educated guesses at this point.
I also could have screwed something up in this spreadsheet.
Anyway, it's not a ton of space, and they will likely just stay over the cap if everything stays as is. That will leave them the MLE and Biannual to sign FA, plus trades.
No pesky first round draft pick.

Which makes me wish we would explore moving Knee for Granger. The numbers are almost exact, Granger addresses a need at 3, it gets Reke on the floor as a starter, and it's an expiring contract.

42, are yall doing a podcast with Ziller? Saw a McNamara tweet mentioning it. Would be a great guest. Also, still no luck with Lowe?
Thanks

We'll need Gordon to come back to form this year first, I think.

Gordon could be what Indiana needs to make the next step, so they may be willing to eat the contract. Granger fills a need and comes off the books along with 7m for AFA and Smiht. That would give us plenty of fire power for next year's FA Class.

That is the plan, Ziller, who I'm soooo pumped about, and no on Lowe.
Going to try again when things slow. Lowe's agreed, just hasn't happened.

Smiht is our most tenured player in the organization and a leader. He will probably anchoring the middle.
Hopefully he stays around.

I really don't understand why so many of our fans want to deal Eric Gordon so badly.

Because EG has played 51 games over the 2 seasons he has been here. He is being paid max money by our organization and still acting like a punk. His fg% and 3 point percentage hasfallen every year he has been in the league. We are set in the backcourt with or without him. furthermore, if we drop him, we can vastly improve our frontcourt.

well... he's been "hurt" but I'm willing to give him this year. You comfortable rolling with just Evans at the SG? Because Rivers is fricking terrible.

we don't need an elite C. we need a rebounder who can play some D.

So who do you suggest will come here for peanuts. You are also not addressing the need of a decent offensive 3. Unless Gordon goes off this season with a new desire to be part of this teams playoff hunt and stays healthy all year, I would much rather get what we can for him instead of paying a max contract for an average guard, especially when we have TE who could start.

These are my thoughts as well. If we could flip Knee for Granger, it would address a need at the 3, and free up cap dollars next season for a strong FA class. If we can go on a solid run this year, we could potentially land a top line FA.
If a guy is serious about winning, and we make a legit push this season, who wouldn't want to join Jrue, AD, Reke, Ryno, and (hopefully) an improving Rivers and Miller?

I think if we trade Gordon we have to get a 3 and 5... Not just a straight up trade with a player who coming off an injury or just on a bad team.
Other words, if we trade Gordon we should get a 3 and 5. (2 players in return)
The granger trade I am worried about Granger messing his knee up and then leaving us this year making the trade seem worthless... However we would save ALOT of money and be extra loaded for a free agency next year.

Even if granger doesn't play, we still have Reke at the 2 and the contract comes off next season. Of course it's preferential that he is healthy and plays well, but the trade is hedged by the expiring, oh and EG is out dis bitch!
