For those that haven't been able to follow every thread, the resigning of Aminu effectively ate up most of the cap space created to S&T Tyreke. So all that is left is the cap room MLE and minimum contracts.

With the reported Aminu signing, the Pelicans basically have minimum contracts and another $2.6m to dole out. Whatcha got? - 42

So we have 2.6 million and change to sign a center assuming we hold the roster as is?

Damn. That's not a lot.

I have no idea who we can get for that little.

Exactly why the Aminu deal sucks. Should have waiting to resign him until the end. He couldn't have been getting that many offers.

Have to agree there. I don't get the deal with signing Aminu like that instead of waiting it out a little.

Maybe he had an offer.

Seems like we painted ourselves into a corner center wise. Surely Dell has an idea of someoe he could get.

I mean you could have used the 5 mil on a C then given him a two year deal under the room exception. We just handcuffed ourselves.

It may not suck as much as we all first thought.

Tyreke 15 minutes
Aminu 15 minutes
Miller 15 minutes

That's 45 of 48 SF minutes and doesn't seem unreasonable. Even though there were rumors of interest in Corey Brewer, maybe a SF wasn't really a priority for Demps. Aminu is probably as effective as Brewer as a defender when you add in his rebounding, Miller is possibly as good as any of the 3 point specialists we would have targeted, and Tyreke has to play some minutes at SF to earn his money and be on the floor in crunch time.

I do not like that aminu's contract was as high as it is. Maybe there was something pressuring demps

I don't know. Almost any multi year offer would have been better for Aminu, right? They must not like the other options at the 3 at all.

DeJaun Blair as a frontcourt player?

Could be he had to beat out another offer like Fun Bunch said, or maybe the SFs he was targeting wanted more than he could give.

Yea I think Aminu was his fallback plan and he may have been drawing interest from other teams. Also, it may be higher because it's only a 1 year deal and that's the trade off for not having to sign him long term

Aminu has a ton of potential. Of course no guarantee he ever reaches it.

Its not easy, but if he could just be average from the corner, he is a great fit. His shot is ugly, but you can tell he has worked on it- judging on results that may not be a good thing. A reduced role will make him look better in our eyes.

42's recent write up also talked about the way he responded to being in the dog house. You want guys on your team.that bounce back and buy in like that.

I'm a huge fan of aminu. He should fit in great with the other young guys. I wish we could've locked him in for a few years.
