Is there enough space to continue to add the pieces to make them upper tier?

Well they are banking on natural improvements from guys so young. Plus, right now what do they need outside of time, more shooting, and another backup big? One of those cant be bought and the other 2 can be found quite cheaply.

But the players and their deals give the team flexibility. Say a blue chipper is available, a Pels package would be stout. Or the pieces just dont fit, they can use assets to reconfigure the team.

Yeah, I guess the better question is are these pieces enough?

We have to bank on Davis being a superstar (I can believe in that).

We have to bank on Gordon being an upper-tier SG (not sure I believe in this).

We have to bank on Evans being a super sub (I can buy this).

We need Jrue to be very good.

The rest we need solid contributions.

These guys should get better, but I'm not sure it's to the level where we'll be an OKC/SA/Miami/Boston (in their run) good.

If the Pelicans get another two players, say Brewer and a decent rebounding/defensive center, I don't think they are that much different from a team like the Nuggets from last season. They finished 3rd in the west.
