I have to get a boat soon. Tired of mooching and I want my own. I would like somewhere between an 18'-20' CC. I like fishing Big Lake, Vermilion Bay, Henderson, Lake Larto and Toledo Bend. Don't have room in the garage for anything bigger than a 20'. I like the Xpress Bay Boats, Nautic Star, Key West and Frontier. Looking for input.

20 Twin Vee Fiberglass

Like that it has 2 70hp motors. Has a soft ride. Draft 10" of water and on good days i can fish for trout and snapper out of venice.

I have an 18 ft express and love it but, based on wehre you like to fish I thought I might suggest YOU get a fiberglass...THEN I saw Toledo Bend.

1860 Alumacraft with 115Hp Optimax

Sold my old bay boat because the upkeep was a stone bitch, plus if I straight the Alumacraft NBD.

When I get home I run some water over it wash the motor and call it a day.

On the flip side, what do most fiberglass boats do that aluminum ones don't?

I know of a skeeter fiberglass boat n motor, both 1990 models that run and perform perfectly. It's kept in a garage at all times.
So glass can indeed last, but it's gotta stay out of the sun.

Aluminum will not degrade in the sun like glass will.
I have an aluminum and I prefer it over glass for its longevity And it's durability.

I got a 19' aluminum CC bay boat custom made 6 years ago. I love it,should be my my last boat after owning 12 . 115 Yamaha ,rhino lining, big front and back decks, high sides. happy happy. I can run to the islands easily on the decent weather days and chase reds in 8" of water. I bass fish everywhere I choose to with no problems include in TB and those damn stumps.

With the brands you named I would go with frontier. It's a joke saying an aluminum fishing boat would be better than fiberglass.

I mostly fished out of fiberglass. Even at toledo. We have only ripped 2 hulls. Both on metal that was hammered into a stump (fricken moorons). It is the motors that catch hell not the hull. I am thinking of a big aluminum and might go down by morgan city and check out a custom built one.
