How does he go for $9 mil and Blatche signs for the vet minimum? I would've liked Blatche as our starting C, especially at that price.

Blatche is still being subsidized by Washington because of the amnesty. Every extra dollar he makes is a dollar less the Wizards have to pay and he's still kind of pissed at them.

Splitter's actually a good player and had a really good year.

His per 36 figues show a drop in PPG, and rebounds per game over last year.

Also his FG% dropped by 6% this season.

When they originally got Splitter, they said they wanted him to be Duncan's successor.

Woj says it's just 4 years.

There won't be a fifth year on the Splitter deal. The terms will be four years, $36 million-plus, sources tell Y! Sports.

Pretty sure that's not true.

Blatche made it all the way through amnesty with no bids, so he gets paid outright by the Wizards. Anything else he gets, such as from the Nets, does NOT count against what the Wizards still owe him.

I saw it on the twitter so it has to be true

Maybe he really likes his situation then and Jersey had no cap space.

He's still getting paid like $7m this year and $8m next year by the Wizards, so it's not like he is seeing a big drop in pay by sticking around the Nets and rehabbing his image.

That's not unusual when you go from 19 mpg to 25.

He complimented Tim Duncan well, especially on the defensive end. 9 million a year is about what most expected him to get considering last year Asik got a 3 year/25 mil deal.

3 year/25 mil deal.

This is the biggest component imo.

I hope we are moving closer to a system of high salary/shorter term salaries for non max level players.

Works out for both parties in most situations.

If a player earns it, he'll be one or two years closer to a new contract for more money. If he sucks, a team is saddled with a shitty overpriced player for one or two years less than typical.

9 mil a year for 4 years is a lot for splitter imo.

I'd rather do 10 mil for 3 years if I'm the spurs.

It couldnt be more obvious that this board does not understand how NBA basketball free agency works, or how much the market costs for starting, and/or contributing players.

Its as if this board forgot how we paid ryan anderson 30 million, as a backup last season. Or just didnt notice.
