It a pale ale malt that is somewhere around 3 SRM. It's kind of bready flavor and gives the beer a little color without having to add a crystal malt.

I had never used it before brewing a Heady Topper clone, but I really liked how it turned out in that beer.

Occasionally I'll put together a recipe and realize it has an SRM of 2. To get that nice gold/orange color I want I'll blend in one of these 3-5 SRM base malts and it makes me feel a little better without turning to a crystal malt.
