This...... and "The Comeback", or as I know it, "The Choke". Houston Oilers blowing a 32 point lead over the Buffalo Bills in the 1/3/93 playoff game.

Well, I disagree.

I do not think the Spurs choked in Game 6. I think that is the non-thinking or lazy person label for what happened.

You should read yesterday's Grantland article about Game 6. It does a great job of discreditting the notion of a choke by the Spurs.

Again, the Spurs win 97 out of 100 times in that scenario. They absolutely choked to give away a 5 point lead with 20 seconds to play. Choke is the only thing that they did.

I said it last night, but any well disciplined high school team beats the Heat in that scenario. Props to the Heat for hitting their shots, but it shouldn't come to that. The Spurs choked horribly, and it was one of the greatest choke jobs in the history of sports. Period.

consider this....

oilers choke against the bills in a first round playoff game.

yankees choke in the alcs.

webber doesn't call time out, they are still trailing with like 10 seconds left.

spurs needed to grab one rebound, or make one extra ft to WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. none of those other scenarios guaranteed a championship. the spurs literally had it on their fingertips and lost it.

It was partially a choke and partially just getting flukishly unlucky with the bounces.

MAYBE if you're talking like Oak Hill or some other private school powerhouse but just a normal good high school team wouldn't even be able to inbounds the ball. Certainly wouldn't be able to dribble up the floor. A state championship high school team like STM last year would close out a 5 point lead with 30 sec left against a Heat team in desperation mode maybe 1 out of 1000 times

Agreed. LBJ himself said that "you need some luck to win the NBA Championship." The Heat were lucky to win Game 6.

Disagree. Nellie missing the catch was the only real "choke" of game 6. This game 6 meltdown was a team effort for the Spurs.
