Not the prettiest result, especially when you consider the first half, but it was effective. That "depleted" Honduran squad buckled down and made it extremely difficult on the US. It will be a shame if they miss out on Brasil, really nice group of players.

Klinsmann made an outstanding choice moving FJ back to LB, I was convinced Castillo would start last night. Though most of his good work did come in the attacking third. I suspect he moves back to LW when everyone is healthy and ready to go.

Top 4 players in order, based strictly on last night's performance.

1. Altidore - continues to get better and better
2. Fabian - legit option at any spot on the left flank
3. Bradley - par for the course
4. Besler - Guy is legit. I admire his desire to stay and play for his home town club, but he should have moved abroad when he had the chance.

Andy Najar - could have been a beaststud for the US of A.

It would be nice to be more dominant in these games, but Honduras has some good players.

The exciting thing is that you can see we still have opportunity to improve by playing more games together and by adding players who have been injured and what not.

I don't think this team right now would make it out of a good WC group, but if they keep improving, I will feel good about our chances.

We were plenty dominant, we just didn't finish our chances.

I actually believe this team is rd of 16/quarterfinal quality. We are playing much more technical and have a deeper team than ever before.

Just depends on the draw. I think we're playing fantastic football right now. That Honduran team can make it tough on anyone.

You get guys like Landon Donovan and Brek Shea involved, and we'll have a ton of offense going forward. Besler and Gonzales have to improve and we need Chandler and Johnson healthy.

Neither one would offer anything more than what we have gotten on offense the past 4-5 games. Shea doesnt even make the bench for Stoke and Donovan hasnt been the same since his meditation in Cambodia

Besler - Guy is legit.

Yea he has been quite the find. Rock solid at the back. Besler definitely has the talent to play in Europe.

Agreed, Pitts. Shea's a late game super sub at best right now.

Donovan needs to show a little more commitment, and hopefully ball out in the GC. Zusi has been a star lately, more effective than Landon would have been? maybe, maybe not.

Cakes is still a top 3 player when he is in form, which he will be soon.

That's because he's injured, turd.

He's the best American player ever, and has a year to get his shite together.

You're telling me these guys can't help us off the bench?

yep, before he signed as a DP for SKC. He had offers from Gent(Belgium), Southampton, Birmingham City, QPR, and Club America.

A part of me wishes he'd gone abroad, but after reviewing those offers, outside of the Saints, he may have made the correct choice.

Graham Zusi was probably the best player on the field last night.

Honduras did what they aimed to do and made that a slow, disjointed, ugly game for long stretches. However we were able to compose ourselves and notch the game winner and produce several good chances on top of that.

- As we have been saying when you get the ball to Jozy in the box, good shite happens. He has been a force up top lately and I hope he doesnt make a stupid transfer this summer. He needs to keep playing and keep scoring.

- Fabian has been a godsend on the left flank. 2 games in a row now he has assisted Jozy beautifully and his forward runs stretch the D and allow Jozy and Deuce to do their thing in the box. He is the LM of the future

- Besler has been quite the call up at CB. Gonzo has all the hype but he has been outperformed every single game by Besler. As for Gonzo he needs to stop making those critical errors that he does at least once per game. Awful give away in the first half yesterday could have led to a Hondruan goal.

- Bradley is the general of the MF. He truly makes us tick out there

- Cameron played well in his time as a sub again at CDM. Had another beautiful long ball this time to Jozy which set up a nice chance on goal. Great to have his versitility on the roster

Yea I wouldn't mind seeing how a Cameron/Besler CB pairing would do.

Agree with all that etm

As for the debate above, guys like Donovan and Shea are so dynamic and offer unique gamechanging abilities. I predict both will be on the final plane to brazil next summer

Maybe...but from what we've seen from Zusi and Fabian on the wings, I dont see Shea or Donovan cracking the lineup anytime soon.

I think RB is Cameron's worst position. He worked well with Bradley, and he's been great for us at Centreback.

He's really the perfect sub at CDM, I think. Allows Bradley to roam forward.

I'd agree that he was the best 2nd half player. I think he had a hard time to start off with. He played a lot of bad balls. Then again, a lot of people were.

I though Bradley was the best player in the first half.

Not sure the best move for Shea was a move to Stoke. It has potential to cramp his career.
