This is a Texas rat snake. It's the same damn snake posted on this board 3x per week, most of the time with the head blown off. They will not make you sick, eat your food, or keep you up at night making noises in your attic. Leave them alone.

Thanks

They do however have a nasty disposition and will strike at you and sometimes connect but they will do no real harm. Their musk is not nearly as nasty smelling as water snakes.

They will rid your place or mice, rats, squirrels, chipmunks, and nuisance bird eggs.

Leave them alone.

I fricking hate snakes. I'm scared to death of em, but for the love of Pete don't just kill them.

Unless its a moccasin. Screw them.

Oh I'm not saying they will chase you down or that the are territorial but if you mess with them they tend to stand their ground especially in mating season.

I had one about four feet long in the wreath on our front door strike at my face as I was coming outside.

Took all the restraint I had not to end his arse.

I just grabbed him by the tail and flung his arse out in the yard.

The bites don't really hurt. Kinda sucks having to get them off of you though.

That snake keeps looking at me like that, he is just asking to be beheaded.

But seriously, see my criterion for determining if lethal force is necessary in a snake encounter:

* Non Lethal snake seen at a distance: He is safe.

* Lethal Snake seen at distance: Will be hunted down and killed if im not in a hurry.

*A snake that surprises me or catches me unawares: All deemed lethal, and will be killed immediately.

We don't have the texas version up here. Most of our rat snakes are grays. But, there must be 5 dead ones a week posted on my FB page with someone bragging about how they beheaded it.
