Pussification of America continues.

Excessive.
But the kid should have taken off the shirt. You kinda lose some of your rights when you're a student in school (I've been told this by administrators before when I was in HS and trying to be a smartass, actually. I know I'm about to get bashed for it.) I don't see it as any different than when they made my buddy change his shirt at football workouts because there was a rebel flag on it, or made the black kid turn his shirt inside out because there was a picture of a guy smoking pot on it, etc. He's not in trouble for wearing the shirt. He's in trouble or continuously refusing to comply.
I mean I have the constitutional right to untuck my shirt but I guarantee you it wouldn't have gone over well if I continually refused a teacher in the hall when they'd tell me tuck in my shirt at school.
And those are the max penalties for the charge, kid's not going to prison. Article is just exaggerated and kicking the ant pile.

The article seems to suggest he faces jail for obstruction.
I'm not saying it's not a trumped up charge though.
You surrender certain rights when you attend school. You can't just talk freely and be disruptive and like wise, you can't wear gun shirts and garner unecessary attention during the height of the gun control debate.
On your free time have at it...
I'm pro gun, but this kid was going all activist at school. Not the place for it IMO.

Wow. The comments make the OT look wise and mature.

I remember back in high school (20+ years ago)wearing t shite with a rebel flag on the back. I couldn't imaging now what would happen if a kid did that today

They made a kid change for it once at football workouts.
Mostly because the team was half black, and it could have ended pretty badly

Maybe this is my problem. Never was told we couldn't wear something.

nothing to see here. carry on.

The shirt having the picture of a gun on it was probably more of a problem than the NRA slogan.
He was told to take it off and he didn't obey. I'm all about rights, but I don't like little disobedient shits either.

In April, Marcum caused a furor at his West Virginia middle school when he showed up in a T-shirt sporting the NRA logo, a picture of a gun and the slogan "Protect your right." Despite being asked several times by school officials to remove the garment, Marcum kept it on, reportedly saying he was not violating the school’s dress code and was exercising his First Amendment rights.
what the frick is wrong with that state? i swear to god i think the whole state is being taken over by check collecting, union touting, socialist assholes who would like nothing better for the whole state to be nothing but degenerate pillheads
yankee assholes

The nature of the charge makes the incident less about the NRA shirt, and more about Marcum's behavior.

WAS he in fact in violation of the schools dress code?
If he was not I hope he wins.
If he was, he should have taken it off.

One thing you can say is that liberals have out-worked conservatives over the past several decades. They are getting shite changed in their favor, and we are sitting on our arse complaining about it (me included)

Yep. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. We have no one to blame but ourselves for the mess we've gotten into.
