John Thomas struggles tremendously in the classroom. Very nice kid, but he had no shot of going anywhere out of high school due to grades. Not sure I've ever gone met a person who struggled so much. All he had to do was make a few grades his senior year and the just about the only passing grade he had was football PE.
Not getting him isn't a big deal, IMO.

All the speculation of his contribution at TE is moot. The staff wanted to keep Gordon at TE and move Thomas to OT.

I don't think Thomas has the body to go to OT. He's a big kid but not a wide body. None the less.....he's at Tejas.

The opposite would seem to make more sense to me.
Thomas looked like a legit vertical threat in the passing game from his tape, and really wiry.
Gordon is a natural, big-bodied blocker.

Just seems strange. Thomas was listed at 6'6, 225 in HS, Gordon at 6'5, 245.
Not to mention their respective skill sets.

If we took a commitment from a JUCO tight end who caught seven passes last year and was known as a better receiver than blocker, I can GUARANTEE everybody on here would be bitching like there's no tomorrow.
We didn't jump on John Thomas because we've got better people already on campus, committed and left on our recruiting list. You only have 85 scholarships and 25 a year you can take. Wish the kid well at Texas, but if he's better than our people it'll be a surprise.

Haha. Go look up the stats from Logan Stokes in JUCO and come back and post those. Seriously. Most here already know them but I guess you do not.

Perhaps you weren't aware that Logan Stokes was recruited as a blocking tight end. John Thomas was recruited as a receiving tight end.
Or perhaps you don't read very well.
Try it again. You'll get it eventually.
