He hasn't averaged more than 15 a game in like 4 seasons. And not more than 13 the past 3.

His three point shooting is terrible, his free throw shooting is REALLY terrible, and he's lost a step at almost 30 years old.

I mean he is a good basketball player and can play defense so I'm sure Monty and Dell have foot long erections for him, but I dunno.

Not sure he's the answer at the price he's going to demand.

He'd probably only be a 3rd scoring option for us. We wouldn't ask him for too much on the offensive end and he'd still be a huge upgrade from Aminu

It's pretty true though. Dude is going to want difference maker money when he really isn't one. In 2 years some fan base will likely be bitching about his contract.

He's a big time upgrade over Aminu. He's a premier defender in the NBA, while being good around the rim and a nice facilitator.

Averaging 13/5/5 is a huge upgrade at the SF position. He's actually capable of generating offense either for himself or others at that spot.

This. Iggy just played a nice role on the US Olympic team.

If he'd sign a 2 year deal I'd be on board but if he comes here it will because we offer 4.

He might not be worth the contract he will demand, but to say he isn't a huge upgrade over Aminu is crazy.

He's a giant upgrade from Aminu that will be a terrible contract in 2-3 years.

Iggy could bring some leadership and consistency at the 3 spot, maybe help aminu. Don't think we will get him but it would a good pickup.

Nature of the business. People complained about Brees' contract the moment he signed it.

Why?

Because I pointed out that a 13/5/5 SG for what will probably be around a max deal is a terrible move for this franchise?

Sorry for bringing realism to the table

He'd work great in Monty's D scheme and would give the Pels somebody who can actually guard on the perimeter. And saying we did sign him, Aminu would get canned- probably traded for cap space. And say Gordon actually enters the season motivated, Pels would have a damn good back court of Vasquez-Gordon-Iggy. Then Davis-Lopez frontcourt. Anderson, Mason, Roberts, Smith, Rivers, #6 Draft Pick, L. Thomas and Miller coming off the bench. Leaves room for a lot of adjustments/lineups. Thats team could get at least 40 wins- not a bad scenario.

The problem with that scenario is in 3 years you're going to be pretty much locked into your max players. That max salary slot needs to be used on a future quasi all star, not a soon to be fading quasi all star. If you only signed Iggy for 2 years then you have Gordon and Iggy coming off the books at the same time and if you manage your bench contracts well, you possibly could resign Gordon (or a different max player) and add another max player. I know we won't get Iggy on a 2 year deal, but I think it'd be a mistake to sign him to anything longer. Once you have to give Davis and possibly Rivers his 2nd contract your ability to add big pieces will be limited to trades. Even when Iggy's off the books in 4 years you'd have enough salary from other players that you wouldn't have a max salary slot worth of cap space.

Yeah, given his being a great distributor and is losing his athleticism, I think he'd be a better fit in a half court offense. I'm not huge on Iggy, but what kind of FAs are people expecting? We're going to have to overpay for someone, it's just a matter of whether we overpay for a guy like Iggy or Jennings, or two guys like Webster and Aaron Brooks. If we could get Pek at the max (which I think Minnesota will match), I'd prefer him, but then he'd force one of our best players (AD/Ryno) to the bench at the end of games. We could go for a Granger or Deng (who I would prefer to Iggy, and should be very "gettable") and have the cap space next season, but then we're going to just replace Iggy/Jennings with different names, but the same caliber players.

We wouldn't exactly need him to be a world beater out there on O

Imagine a lineup of:

Burke or Mccollum 12-15 PPG
Gordon 20 PPG
Iggy 13-16 PPG
Davis 15-16 PPG
Lopez? 10-14 PPG

Combined with ryno and rivers off the bench you wouldn't to worry about offense.

His D would help us significantly and can create for him self and the other guys.

I was mainly calling you out for the talk he sucks on offense which just isn't true.

That's not a bad squad. Not bad at all.
