quote:

"when Pop looks at American talent he sees many players who "have been coddled since eighth, ninth, 10th grade by various factions or groups of people. But the foreign kids don't live with that. So they don't feel entitled," he says, noting how many clubs work on fundamentals in two-a-day practices, each lasting up to three hours. "Now, you can't paint it with too wide of a brush, but in general, that's a fact."

I agree that American kids are treated like gold but not sure about the work ethic

Pop also called an American player his "favorite" (George Hill)--and made the tough decision to trade him for another American in Kawhi Leonard.

Pop wants talent he can develop regardless of where it comes from. He has had unmitigated success in his overseas talent evaluation tho

Couldn't be more correct. Foreign players tend to have higher Bball iq as well as they are taught basics and fundamentals over power and out athleteing your opponent.

Given his track record, it's hard to disagree with pretty much anything Pop says about basketball.

This! I really do believe that Pop is the greatest coach of all-time. The Spurs roster is not THAT good. Their recent dominance is absurd. They should have fallen off multiple times.
