Standing for the playing of the anthem doesn't have a damn thing to do with the current government and a lot more to do with those who fought for this country IMO.
Are you equally as upset when people stand for the anthem, but refuse to remove their hats, or don't pay a lick of fricking attention, or talk to their neighbor, or read their phone, etc?
Frankly, I respect Jackson's action more than those assholes. While I disagreed with his decision, I respected the fact that it came from an honest (though wrongheaded I thought) place. It wasn't disrespectful accidentally...he was making a point. Do idiots that simply don't give a flying frick about the anthem but stand because they see other people standing get a pass as good Americans for merely standing up with the crowd, or is more expected?

Those people you describe just sound trashy or uninformed. They aren't blatantly disrespecting the country like he did. They just sound like idiots and may not realize how disrespectful they're being. Abdul Rauf knew exactly how disrespectful he was being. Again, frick him.

After all the contributions he made to this university and people still have the temerity to say this. Wow...

Good point on the lapel pins...almost a mandatory part of any politicians wardrobe after the lack of one on Obama's lapel during the first campaign was "proof" he was an anti-American muslim.
My guess is none of us have ever thought this country was perfect. There are lots of ways of demonstrating your displeasure with the actions of our government, sitting during the national anthem, raising gloved fists during the Olympic ceremonies, etc. are the kinds of peaceful protests our Constitution protects.
All this "America...love it, or leave it" BS is sad.

Wake up, Paul Allen!
How can you respect ANYONE who is a devout Muslim?
( and, word on the street has it he never supported either David Duke or David Vitter! He has No Family Values!)

I loved me some CJ. I saw every game he played at LSU. I went to The Albertsons at 6am the day he was on the SI cover. He was the best I ever saw, in his own way.

Or did you give your left nut for the University?
This country is greater than any University, or are you that dense?

Compelling arguments, Cadello...

Dude. Don't hate him just because he is a very fricked-up human being who has just happened to simultaneously disavow the country that gave him every freedom and opportunity in the world in favor of a 12th Century Murder Cult that kills people for sport and straps bombs to children and kills Americans in increasingly grisly fashion to psychologically compensate in some way for their insanely failed backwards-arse, latently-homosexual, sexually-frustrated culture. That could happen to anybody.

This group seems to have taken the same rhetoric class:
"frick you," he explained.
Or
/ string of invective/
Strong arguments, persuasively presented.

I refuse to read the article. He means nothing to me the second he refuse to stand up for our national anthem.

Not everything is perfect in this world. Not you, I, or even the great United States, but gosh damn CJ's skills were damn near perfect

I was 13 when he came to LSU and became an instant sensation. He was the most dominant 6 foot 165lb I ever saw. I had a #35 jersey. I followed his career in the NBA. Was hugely disappointed when he didn't stand for the pledge. I watched the clip. Still simultaneously impressed and disappointed. They guy was ridiculously dedicated to the game and awesome. His activism and strong political views ended up taking over and costing him. Not a fan of Mahmoud, but I can't shake the image of Chris Jackson. I will always be a fan of that dude. Hell, all I wanted to be able to do was dribble down to the top of the key, go between the legs a couple times, then swish a three pointer for my entire HS basketball career.

Nice boom.
Let the first page "dissenters" tell you "Get over yourselves and your bull shite opinions. THIS"
