Seems like he's improved just in the past couple of weeks, but that's probably b/c we played Jamaica and Panama instead of Belgium. His problems aren't with ability, though, so I'm hopeful he will be solid by 2014.
Saw him leading on the field a bit last night, too, and that's important.

I think we are seeing the evolution of quality on our bench. By the time we get to Brazil we will have options, which is not something we have ever really had before.

I really hope castillo doesn't play. I think after their recent performances, Fabian at LB and GAM at LM are what I want to see. Our options at outside back without spector, lichaj, chandler, and cherundolo are sufficient against concacaf teams, but I can't wait until they're all back in the fold.

Are Spector and Lichaj injured right now? Both could run circles around Castillo.

why is everyone so intent on playing Fab out of position?

he just put in a stellar shift in his natural role, and everyone otb is trying to make him a defender.

because LB is a huge hole otherwise. what we lose at LM we make up for with the "plus" at LB

Castillo had a strong finish to the Mexican season and the Copa Libertadores. based on their club play, he's in better form than Lichaj and Spector.

his opportunities with the US have been limited, we should all be willing to give him another chance. the coaches clearly think he's the better option, and I'd be shocked if he's not starting at LB next Tuesday.

Also, the way GAM is playing, I don't think we lose much at LM considering we should be taking the game to the opponents at home.
Who is even on the roster right now? I can't remember with so many people going back to their clubs or going home with injuries.

I have watched Castillo play for the USMNT 5 times. He has been without a doubt the worst player on the US side in each of those games. He literally brings nothing to the table. He is weak, caught out of position, has a bad touch, can't pass, overdribbles, and commits fouls in midfield in harmless situations.

He brings nothing to the table. In fact, I would even go as far as saying I would rather just put 10 players on the field than have Castillo as the 11th.

Castillo probably deserves more chances, I just don't like giving chances during WCQ

Really? Panama didn't look like a very good team to me and we could have beat them with any coach.

You obviously have no idea who this man is.

He's played plenty of left back in Germany and he's better than Castillo.

Geoff Cameron absolutely dominated. I wish I could see a replay of the game. I thought he shown out multiple times.

This was the best performance that the US has had in a long time. I was very pleased.

and hoffenheim moved him to lw/rw, partially because it's more natural for him, partially because he was doing poorly at LB.

every report I've read has said Castillo was one of the stars for the Xolos in the libertadores. we can argue it all we want. my money is on Jurgen starting Castillo at LB.

The one thing that makes me optimistic about Castillo on the bench next week is that starting Castillo would mean either Zusi or Eddie Johnson would be benched.

He wasn't doing really poorly, even if he was, he's played lb better for us than Castillo ever has. I'm not saying Jurgen is going to move him back to lb but I'm just saying he's better than Castillo is at the position.

I guess you just need to figure out if you'd rather Johnson - Johnson or Castillo - Johnson.

I think the Johnson - Johnson scenario gets a better player on the field.

I agree that Fabian is better than Castillo, I'd say that's probably the case at all 11 positions.

I just think if you have Fab, your first choice LW, healthy, you play him at LW.

Let the back up LB fill in at LB. Use EJ as an early second half super sub. Let his speed take over against tired legs.

Sciaretta has been going off with FJ stats since the game, I forget all the numbers but basically when Fab starts at LW Jozy scores every time and the team has like 11 goals or something. Wish we could find a permanent LB. FJ and LD would wing rape everyone if they both got on the field together.
