Its not possible to find a better one. The only better one is currently playing rb and cdm for Bayern.

True! I don't think you can find a team more interchangeable than Bayern. Look at Lahm, Pep moves the captain and he is proving to be just as tough there as at RB.

And to think people were bitching when Lahm was playing there in the preseason. I'm glad he had time to hone his craft in the middle. To be fair though, he was a center mid in his youth days, but he hasn't played there since he was 15 or younger. If Rafinha keeps his play up, then I don't know how much better Javi makes us in most of our matches. Lahm is a better passer, tackler, smarter and faster. He just lacks the aerial presence. That's not a slight to Javi either, who is one of my favorite players on the team. Lahm is just a very exceptional. His heat maps are funny. No matter where he plays, left right or center his alley is always a straight line.

I agree 100%. Rafinha has really been on lately and I feel the same way about Javi, who knows what will happen with his playing time. Lahm has always been my favorite, he is the definition of a player, wherever he's at he plays it his way and plays it better than anyone. He's the perfect example of a selfless Captain.

Thanks for the welcome. It's going to be nice to have some other people to talk Bayern with.

Welcome WCMO...

Hendo and Tweezy run this thread, they've always been cool since I was a newcomer...

Shame you weren't around in the days of the Gomez button, but you can still indulge in the Alaba...

Javi injured his knee during rehab so he's out a little longer.

The team is managing well without him, but this is frustrating...re-watched some of last year's CL matches the other night, he was a beast...

Of course David and Franck sit next to each other and the Godfather sits next to his prodigy in the back. The Godfather is the reason we didn't sell Lahm or Basti back in the later half of the last decade. He was convinced both were special talents, something he doesn't say often. He's also said that Pierre is one of the best youth players he's ever seen.

He isn't out too long, he tweeted earlier today that "everyday the comeback is closer" and "double session today in practice"

Does anyone here feel like one of Bayern's midfielders is going to be left out of Pep's system when everyone on the squad is 100%?

Only logically, since we have so many of them. At first I thought it was Kroos, but he's been playing really well lately. Now I think it might be Gotze. I don't know, it all depends on what kind of formation we are going to continue forward with. At first it was a 4141 now it's more of a hybrid 4141/4231.

There's not enough room for everybody. Javi will probably get tested out at center back some more. Gotze will need to try to get some playing time at striker and outside mid. Everyone will need to be versatile.

I'm still not sure either. I thought Kroos was going to be it as well, but as you said, he's playing terrific right now. I hope this doesn't lead to chemistry issues or anything like that, Gotze is going to get his shot but since he hasn't been healthy, it will be hard to tell when we see the real 100% of him.

I don't think there will be chemistry issues, all the guys love eachother and talk about retiring at Bayern. But we'll have to see how things play out. At the moment injuries have kept things pretty even as far as PT for our CMs. Thiago is coming back from a very serious injury, he won't be back for another month and then after that I doubt he'll be at full fitness for another 2 or 3 months. I doubt Götze will really start producing like we expect until after the winter break either. Good thing the squad is amazing or we'd all be getting a little impatient.
