Another option is medical transcription. I know a couple of people that do this from home and make very good money, but it does required dedicated time...

This. I know a few Mom's that did this at one time or another. Just finding an open is a bitch.

High school and college math tutors make bank.

You said she was a recruiter before?

She could help with college applications maybe? My parents hired someone to help my sister. The lady would help by reviewing, proofing, and directing the message in the application in order to help get the kid get accepted to the school they wanted. She did it for several friends and they all said it worked.

She used to work at my high school as an counselor/college admissions assistance and had recently left to care for a parent full time. It can definitely be done part time. It was a worthwhile thing according to my mom.

That's very interesting. I wonder if someone would pay to help find scholarships too. I know guidance counselors are supposed to do that but mine sucked at it.

What about cleaning houses? She could set her own schedule.

Problem is, the hrs she would be tutoring (3-6 or 7PM) is when OUR kids need her to help with homework (a ridiculous amt.), projects etc.

That's not bad, I would rather her not have to do manual labor though. I feel guilty enough as it is that I can't provide enough.

From the link:

quote:

Based in Mandeville, Louisiana, Painting with a Twist® is the franchise arm of Corks N Canvas, LLC. The concept is so popular that the owners Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney opened their first Corks N Canvases in November 2007, and by March 2009 they had three company owned stores, and by July 2009 they had sold four franchises. People love it!

Since this is 20 minutes from where I live, I don't think that would work.

She will have to google some online colleges, go to their website and apply. She will be required to post topics of discussion, along with material from a text, list assignments and exams and voila. Usually 5 or 6 weeks. Pay is around $1200 per class.

Really? I've never thought about that, but I guess someone has to teach those courses. Thanks Broke.

Tutoring is a great route to go. She could just put up fliers around town. If she doesn't have the drive/time to get started on her own, look into Sylvan/TPR/Kaplan.

Starbucks barista is another common job that can often have pretty flexible hours with easy work and ok pay.

Yep, same kind of thing, the guidance counselor sucked at my sisters school so they hired someone good.

How old? Hopefully it won't be too long before you can put their asses to work. Combined they should be able to pull in more than $800 a month easy. That's only like mowing 4 yards a week at $50 a pop.

Come to think of it, your wife could mow the neighbors' lawns until the kids take over the business.
